Yahweh and Ahura Mazda are not the same god—one represents wisdom, truth, and righteousness (Asha), while the other is a being of jealousy, wrath, and deception.

- If Yahweh were truly the one supreme and all-powerful god, why would he feel jealousy—a human emotion? This aligns more with Angra Mainyu (Ahriman), the force of deceit and disorder.

- This rigid, unchanging law contrasts with the dynamic and evolving wisdom encouraged by Ahura Mazda.
3. Yahweh’s Favoritism vs. Universal Goodness of Ahura Mazda
- Deuteronomy 7:6 – “For you are a people holy to Yahweh your God. Yahweh your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.”
- Yahweh’s covenant is exclusive, focusing only on the Israelites, while Ahura Mazda promotes universal righteousness for all humanity.
- Gathas of Zarathustra (Yasna 30.3) – “Thus, those who choose good shall be blessed, and those who choose evil shall be cast aside, regardless of their nation or birth.”
- This stark difference suggests that Yahweh operates with tribal favoritism, while Ahura Mazda operates with true justice for all.
4. The Origins of Yahweh – A Transformed War God?
- Historical studies reveal that Yahweh was originally a Canaanite storm and war god, later merged into Israelite monotheism.
- Psalm 18:14 – “He shot his arrows and scattered the enemy, with great bolts of lightning he routed them.”

- Compare this with Ahura Mazda, who is never depicted as engaging in war or showing personal rage.
- Yahweh’s violent, destructive tendencies match the attributes of a localized storm god rather than a universal creator.
5. The Influence of Zoroastrianism on Judaism
- After the Persian conquest of Babylon (539 BCE), many Jewish religious beliefs evolved under Persian influence.
- Concepts introduced to Judaism after Persian rule:
- Angels and demons (Previously absent in early Jewish texts)
- Heaven and Hell (Sheol was originally a neutral underworld)
- A Messiah figure (Borrowed from Zoroastrian Saoshyant)
