“He showed remarkable detachment to materialistic world; but at the same time, showed intense love for every living being.” — Ancient biographical tradition
He Was Trained to Perform Blood Sacrifices. He Refused.
That refusal would change history.
The Family
Zoroaster is recorded as the son of Pourushaspa of the Spitama family, and Dugdōw. His father’s name means “possessing gray horses,” his mother’s means “milkmaid.” They were of the priestly class—shepherds, cattle-herders, people who lived close to the land and the sacred fire.
The Spitamans had 5 sons in all. Rathushtar, Rangushtar, ZARATHUSTRA, Nodariga and Nivedis. Zarathustra was the third son—two older brothers, two younger.
Born into a lineage of priests, his path seemed predetermined. His father, Pourusaspa, was probably a priest and his son would become one as sons usually followed in their fathers’ professions.
But this child was different.
From birth, he glowed with divine light. He laughed instead of crying. And as he grew, those around him began to realize: something about this boy was not normal.
The Unusual Child
From an early age he was an unusual child, showing great wisdom.
While other children played, Zarathustra watched. While others accepted what they were told, Zarathustra questioned.
He was educated at an early age, suggesting a family of significant means in that he was not sent to work nor is there any suggestion of his having any occupation other than priest.
This wasn’t typical. Most children of that era worked—herding cattle, gathering wood, assisting with daily survival. But Zarathustra was being prepared for something different.
He was being trained to mediate between humans and gods.
But the gods he was being taught about? He didn’t believe in them.
Age 7: The Assassination Attempt
Soon after his birth an evil man named Durasarun planned to kill Zarathustra. He had heard that Zarathustra was sent by Ahura Mazda to get rid of evil.
The attempts began in infancy—fire, trampling cattle, wolves. All failed.
But at age 7, the assassination attempts took a darker turn.
Zoroaster’s training for priesthood probably started very early around seven years of age.
The same year he began formal priest training, the forces arrayed against him escalated. They recognized what he was becoming: a threat to everything they controlled.
Why age 7?
Because that’s when a child transitions from innocent observer to active participant. That’s when questions become dangerous. That’s when training can still shape—or break—a mind.
The old priests knew: If they couldn’t kill his body, they’d have to control his mind.
They failed at both.
The Training: What He Was Taught
The Old Religion
Before Zarathustra, ancient Iran practiced a polytheistic religion remarkably similar to Vedic India. The Iranian pantheon was similar to that of other Indo-European religions. It contained a large number of deities, primarily male.
The Daevas: Daiva, which means “heavenly one”, is derived from the common Proto-Indo-European word for “god”, which is the meaning it has in the Vedas.
These were the gods Zarathustra was taught to worship. Gods of war, storm, violence. Gods who demanded:
Blood Sacrifice
The ancient Iranians practiced a sacrificial ritual yazna. In this ritual fire and the sacred drink hauma played a key part.
Sacrifices were made at these temples, most likely in the form of grains, animals, precious metals, and objects, which became the property of the priests. In time, the priestly class grew wealthy from these sacrifices and their probable control of rich farmlands.
The economic model was simple:
Gods demand blood
Priests perform the killing
People pay the priests
Priests get rich
Repeat
Zarathustra was already a priest by the age of 15, possibly apprenticed to an older clergyman, and left his home at the age of 20. Which type of priest he was is unclear, but he objected to the ritual of animal sacrifice practiced by the karpans. Zarathustra suggests he witnessed such sacrifices many times, possibly even participated in them, but found them distasteful and antithetical to the goodness of the gods.
He was trained to kill animals in the name of the gods.
And it broke something inside him.
The Question That Wouldn’t Go Away
While other young priests learned the rituals by rote, Zarathustra asked one question over and over:
“Why do the gods demand suffering?”
The daevas—these “heavenly ones”—appeared to delight in war and strife.
The rituals required blood, pain, death.
The priests grew fat while the people grew poor.
Animals screamed. Fires consumed flesh. And the priests claimed: “The gods demand it.”
But young Zarathustra looked at the cattle—gentle, trusting, essential for survival—and thought:
“What kind of god demands the murder of innocent beings?”
The Care for Living Things
Traditions further maintain that Zarathustra was trained to be a priest… he refers about himself as `ZAOTAR’; a fully qualified priest.
But something set him apart: He seems to have showed a remarkable care for humans and cattle.
This was revolutionary.
In an age where animals were commodities to be sacrificed, Zarathustra cared about their suffering.
In an age where human value came from tribe and rank, Zarathustra cared about all people.
After completion of his training, Zoroaster remained with his parents for five more years. During this period, he showed remarkable detachment to materialistic world; but at the same time, showed intense love for every living being.
Detachment from wealth. Attachment to life.
That’s not what priests were supposed to teach.
The Growing Conflict
As Zarathustra progressed through his training—age 7, 10, 15—the tension grew.
He learned the prayers. He memorized the rituals. He understood the theology.
But he didn’t believe it.
The Karapans and Kavis: The names of two types of priests are given as karpans and kawis, but the distinction between them is unclear as are their roles in religious observance.
These were his teachers. His colleagues. The gatekeepers of religious authority.
Zarathustra attacked the worshippers of DAEVAS, a class of the gods common to the Indians and the Iranians alike. The leaders of his opponents, KAVIS and KARAPANS, were a priestly caste. He attacked their traditional religion and practices.
But he couldn’t attack them yet. Not as a child. Not as a teenage apprentice.
So he watched. He learned. He waited.
And he asked the question that would eventually destroy their entire system:
“What if there’s only ONE god? And what if that god wants ethics, not blood?”
Age 15: Fully Ordained
He became a priest probably around the age of 15, and according to Gathas, gaining knowledge from other teachers and personal experience from traveling when he left his parents at age 20.
At 15, Zarathustra was a zaotar—a fully qualified priest.
He could perform the yazna ceremony. He could chant the sacred hymns. He could sacrifice animals to the daevas.
He had every credential the old religion could offer.
And he hated it.
The Five Years of Silence (Age 15-20)
After completion of his training, Zoroaster remained with his parents for five more years.
Why?
Because he was trying to reconcile two impossible truths:
He had been trained to believe the daevas were gods
He knew in his soul they were false
The daevas demanded blood and chaos. The cattle he loved were slaughtered for nothing. The priests exploited fear for profit. The people suffered under a religion of violence.
And young Zarathustra—ordained, educated, empowered to continue the system—refused.
During this period, he showed remarkable detachment to materialistic world; but at the same time, showed intense love for every living being.
The other priests accumulated wealth. Zarathustra gave it away.
The other priests demanded respect. Zarathustra showed compassion.
The other priests perpetuated the system. Zarathustra questioned everything.
For five years, he tried to find a way to reform from within.
For five years, he realized: The system cannot be reformed. It must be replaced.
Age 20: The Breaking Point
When Zarathustra became 20 years old he felt the need to get closer to God. He left home and spent ten years in prayer and meditation on the mountains.
Something happened at age 20 that forced the final decision.
Maybe it was one sacrifice too many—watching an animal’s terror, hearing its death cry, seeing the priests pocket the payment.
Maybe it was one conversation too many—hearing the karapans laugh about how easily the people were controlled through fear.
Maybe it was one prayer too many—chanting to gods he knew didn’t exist, perpetuating lies in the name of tradition.
Whatever it was, at age 20, Zarathustra made a choice:
He would leave everything—family, security, status, comfort—and search for the truth.
Not the truth the priests taught.
The Truth.
What This Childhood Reveals
1. He Knew the Enemy Intimately
Zarathustra didn’t reject blood sacrifice as an outsider.
He was trained to perform it.
He didn’t condemn the priestly class from ignorance.
He was one of them.
When he would later attack the karapans and kavis, he knew exactly what he was attacking—because he had been on the inside.
2. Compassion Was His Heresy
He seems to have showed a remarkable care for humans and cattle.
In a world where animals were expendable and humans were ranked by birth, caring about suffering was revolutionary.
The old religion didn’t teach compassion. It taught obedience.
Zarathustra’s “heresy” wasn’t theological complexity. It was simple kindness.
“Don’t hurt living things” was the most dangerous idea possible.
Why? Because it threatened the entire economic model of the priesthood.
3. The Question Was Always “Why?”
Most priests accepted: “The gods demand sacrifice.”
Zarathustra asked: “Why do the gods demand suffering? And if they do, are they worthy of worship?”
That question—“Why?”—is the beginning of philosophy.
And Zarathustra asked it 1,700 years before the Greeks claimed to invent philosophy.
4. He Chose Truth Over Comfort
At age 20, Zarathustra had:
A secure position as an ordained priest
Status in his community
A predictable future
The support of his family
He gave it all up.
He left his parents at age 20.
Why? Because living a lie—even a comfortable lie—was unbearable.
The Pattern That Would Repeat
At birth: Demons tried to kill him through fire and beasts. At age 7: Assassins tried to kill him when training began. At age 15: He was ordained into the system he would destroy. At age 20: He walked away from everything to find truth.
For the next 10 years: He would search. At age 30: He would find the answer. For the next 12 years: The priests would try to kill him again. At age 42: A king would finally listen. For the next 35 years: He would build what would become the Persian Empire’s faith. At age 77: A priest of the old religion would murder him.
The old priesthood was his enemy from birth to death.
Because he represented the one thing they couldn’t tolerate: Truth that doesn’t need them.
The Theft Begins Here
When Zarathustra left at age 20 to search for truth, he was walking away from:
Polytheism (worship of many gods)
Blood sacrifice (appeasement through violence)
Priestly mediation (you need us to reach the gods)
Fate and predestination (you have no choice)
Ritual over ethics (obedience matters more than morality)
What he would discover in 10 years:
Monotheism (one God)
Ethical sacrifice (good thoughts, words, deeds)
Direct access to God (no priest required)
Free will (you choose your destiny)
Ethics over ritual (how you live matters most)
Where do we see these concepts today?
In Judaism (post-Exile, 539 BCE+):
One God (adopted from Zoroastrianism)
Ethical monotheism (adopted from Zoroastrianism)
Personal responsibility (adopted from Zoroastrianism)
In Christianity:
Personal salvation through choice (Zoroastrian)
Heaven and hell as rewards/punishments (Zoroastrian)
Satan as cosmic adversary (Zoroastrian: Angra Mainyu)
In Islam:
Five daily prayers (Zoroastrian Gah system)
Final judgment and resurrection (Zoroastrian)
Emphasis on good deeds (Zoroastrian)
In Greek Philosophy:
Ethics as central to philosophy (Zoroastrian)
The “examined life” (Zarathustra asked “Why?” first)
Moral choice as defining humanity (Zoroastrian free will)
Every major religious and philosophical tradition that came after Zarathustra adopted concepts he discovered during his 10-year search.
None of them credit him.
Because acknowledging Zarathustra means acknowledging that:
Monotheism began in Persia, not Israel
Ethics began in Iran, not Greece
Personal moral choice began with a Persian priest, not Moses or Socrates
So the source is erased.
The Central Irony
The priestly class that tried to kill Zarathustra as a child—
The karapans and kavis who opposed his teaching—
The blood-sacrifice system he rejected—
All of it was eventually destroyed.
By the very ideas this one priest discovered when he walked away at age 20.
Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Greek philosophy—all of them practice theology Zarathustra invented because he refused to accept what the priests taught him.
4.3 billion people today follow the thinking of a man who, at age 20, looked at the religious establishment and said:
“This is wrong. There must be a better way.”
And then walked into the wilderness to find it.
NEXT: Episode 3 – The Ten-Year Search
For 10 years, one man asked the question that would split history: “Why does evil exist?” The answer he received would create monotheism.
“He showed remarkable detachment to materialistic world; but at the same time, showed intense love for every living being.”
That combination—rejecting wealth while embracing compassion—made him more dangerous than any warrior.
Because you can fight warriors. But you can’t fight truth spoken with love.

The priest who refused to kill animals gave humanity the concept of ethical living.
“Instead of crying, he laughed at birth and the whole of creation rejoiced.” — Pahlavi Denkard
Every Prophet Cried. Zarathustra Laughed.
That tells you everything about the difference between his message and what came after.
The Prophecy
Zarathustra’s coming to the world came to be seen as preordained: his guardian spirit (fravashi) was created millennia before his actual birth.
This wasn’t an ordinary birth. This was the culmination of a divine plan that had been in motion since the beginning of time.
Before the birth of Zarathustra, the magicians and wicked people knew that a person who would teach the people the true worship of Ahura Mazda was to be born to a woman named Dughdova. They wanted to prevent it. They had to prevent it.
Because the arrival of this child would mean the end of their power.
The Conception
His father was Pourušaspa (meaning “many horses”), a herdsman. His mother was Dughdova, which means “milkmaid.” They were from the Spitama family—a priestly lineage, but humble, pastoral people.
According to the sacred texts, Zarathustra was conceived of three elements: the frawar (his soul) from the hom plant, xwarrag (his glory) from his mother, and his tan gorh (his body substance) from milk.
His guardian spirit (fravashi), his soul, and his “glory” were all transmitted by Ahura Mazda and several of his divine helpers in a very complicated process, which involved his father and mother and various elements from the natural world.
This wasn’t immaculate conception in the Christian sense. His parents were “natural and earthly.” But the process itself was sacred—a collaboration between heaven and earth, spirit and matter, the divine and the human.
The child being formed in Dughdova’s womb was both fully human and fully chosen.
The Pregnancy of Light
His mother was said to have been glowing throughout her pregnancy in a way that was generally attributed to royalty.
Before Zarathustra was born, a very bright light shone all around the house.
Neighbors saw it. Travelers passing through spoke of it. The radiance emanating from Dughdova wasn’t natural. It was divine.
And it terrified the demons.
During the pregnancy of his mother, the demons and evil priests were struck by terror and feelings of impending disaster for their ways of life.
Why? Because they knew what was coming.
A light so bright it would expose all lies. A truth so pure it would shatter all deception. A child whose very existence would declare war on evil itself.
The old order—blood sacrifice, demon worship, priestly exploitation—was about to end. And the forces of darkness knew it.
The Moment of Birth
The Laugh Heard Around the World
There are many versions of Zarathustra’s birth: all of them say he laughed uproariously when he was born.
Not a cry. Not a whimper. A laugh.
The primary tradition is that the supreme being Ahura Mazda sent the Immortal Saint Vohumano (“Virtuous Thought”) to enter the infant’s soul, and Zarathustra, illumined with a bright light, laughed so loudly that the whole neighborhood heard.
Vohuman entered inside Zarathushtra’s soul, and Zarathushtra laughed, since Vohuman is a Holy Immortal spirit that gives joy and pleasure.
Why This Matters
Every other prophet came into the world crying:
Moses, hidden in a basket to escape death
Jesus, born in a stable with no room at the inn
Muhammad, orphaned before he was born
They cried because they entered a world of suffering, oppression, and darkness.
But Zarathustra laughed.
He laughed because he saw the victory. He knew the outcome. Zarathustra is the only child who laughed at birth, as he was aware of his divine mission and victory of good over evil.
Sitting next to Zarathushtra were several Karpans (False Priests) who by virtue of the bright light illuminating Zarathushtra’s dwelling saw Zarathushtra laughed, which was in contradiction to the custom of the rest of mankind, who cry when being born, and this horrified them at what they saw.
The False Priests were horrified. And they should have been.
Because that laugh was a declaration:
“I see you. I see your lies. I see your exploitation. And I’m here to end it.”
“You think darkness wins? You’re wrong.”
“You think evil is inevitable? Watch me prove otherwise.”
That laugh was defiance. That laugh was joy. That laugh was victory.
The Question
On the next day Pouruaspa saw the Karpans, false priests, and asked them: By what reason do the infants cry at birth, and by what reason my son Zarathushtra laughed? And they answered: Those who cry, see their deaths as completion of their lives, while Zarathushtra who laughed, saw his own righteousness.
Think about that.
Most babies cry because they sense the suffering ahead—life, death, the inevitable end.
Zarathustra laughed because he saw his righteousness—his mission, his purpose, the truth he would bring to the world.
One is about fear. The other is about faith. One is about death. The other is about victory. One is about suffering. The other is about joy.
That’s the difference between Zarathustra’s message and every religion that came after.
The Rejoicing of Creation
The whole of creation rejoiced.
With his birth at the same time, the world rejoiced.
When the Prophet of Iran was born, nature rejoiced. The trees, rivers and flowers expressed their joy and delight.
At the birth of the prophet, all creations rejoiced and exclaimed in joy Ushtā no zātō āthrava yō spitāmō zarathushtrō, “Rejoice, for us is born the priest Spitama Zarathushtra.”
Nature itself recognized the arrival of the prophet.
The trees, the rivers, the flowers—all of creation sensed that something fundamental had shifted. The cosmic balance was being restored. Truth had entered the world in human form.
But Evil Knew Too
The demons were frightened.
Evil persons were terrified by the divine glow of the child. As they came to know about the birth of this divine child, they trembled, fearing an end to their evil powers and practices. They decided to kill infant Zarathushtra.
As an infant, he glowed so brightly that the others who lived in his village feared him and attempted to hurt and even kill him, thinking him to be related to some sort of demonic spirit.
The light that made nature rejoice made evil tremble.
And so began the attempts to destroy the child who would change the world.
The First Assassination Attempt: Fire
Chief among the wicked was the evil chieftain Dorasrun. He tried several times to have baby Zarathushtra killed, but each time the child was divinely saved.
The first method: burn him alive.
Dorasrun had the baby thrown into a fire, but the fire did not burn the child, as Adar Yazad, the Yazata who looks after fire, made the fire cool, and the baby was unharmed.
According to later tradition, the karb (wicked priest) growled to Purushasp that the way was to kindle fire, so that he would be burnt with the wood. But lo, a great miracle was manifest to many, as the Religion says: the fire did not spread to the brushwood, the fire did not take hold of the brushwood. At dawn his mother ran, seeking her son, and came to him, and took him on her right arm.
The evil men put baby Zarathustra into burning fire, but the angel Asha-Vahishta which look after the fire i.e. Adibest Amesaspand caused the fire to get cold.
The Symbolism
Fire—the symbol of truth, purity, and divine light—refused to harm the prophet of light.
The very element Zarathustra would later make sacred protected him from those who wielded it as a weapon.
Even in infancy, the forces of nature recognized their master.
The Second Assassination Attempt: Cattle
When fire failed, they tried another method: trampling.
The karb growled to Purushasp that the way was to lay Zardusht on a narrow path so that cattle would trample him underfoot. And Purushasp did this.
And a great miracle was thus manifest to many, as the Religion says: a bull came along who was the leader, fierce and big as an elephant. It ran to him. The whole day long it took pity on him, keeping the other cattle away from him. It was the first come, the last to go. At dawn his mother ran, seeking her son, and came to him, and took him on her right arm.
They placed him in a lane frequented by cattle, with the intention that he would be trampled to death. But Bahman Amesaspand the angel that protect the cattle, came to the rescue by inspiring a cow to stand over him and protect him from the stampede.
The Message
Even animals recognized the prophet and refused to harm him.
A bull—massive, dangerous, capable of crushing an infant with a single step—instead stood guard over the child all day long.
The first to arrive. The last to leave.
Protecting the one who would later teach: “Good thoughts, good words, good deeds—toward all living beings.”
The Pattern of Divine Protection
The assassination attempts continued:
He was laid in a den of wolves
He was thrown into the embers of a fire
Each time, he escaped death through divine intervention
Seven nurses, who had come with the intent to hurt the child, retreated on seeing this great miracle.
Even those sent to kill him couldn’t do it. The light was too strong. The protection too complete.
In the end Durasarun tried to carry out the murder himself. He entered Zarathustra’s house when all were asleep and was going to strike him with his deadly dagger, when angel Behram Yazad permanently paralysed and twisted his hands so that he could never ever use them again.
The assassin who tried to murder the prophet of light was forever crippled.
Not killed. Not destroyed. But rendered powerless.
That would become the pattern: Evil cannot win. It can only be neutralized.
What The Birth Reveals
1. This Was Preordained
His guardian spirit (fravashi) was created millennia before his actual birth.
This wasn’t an accident. This wasn’t a random birth. This was the culmination of a cosmic plan.
From the beginning of time, Ahura Mazda knew that evil would arise in the world. And from the beginning of time, he prepared the solution: a human being who would bring truth into the darkness.
2. Light and Darkness Cannot Coexist
The moment Zarathustra was born, two things happened simultaneously:
Nature rejoiced (trees, rivers, flowers)
Demons trembled (evil priests, wicked chieftains)
You cannot be neutral toward truth.
You either celebrate it or try to destroy it. The birth of Zarathustra forced everyone—human, animal, demon, angel—to choose a side.
3. The Power of Joy Over Suffering
Every other prophet came crying into a world of pain.
Zarathustra came laughing into a world of lies.
Why?
Because his message wasn’t “suffer now, be rewarded later.” His message was:
“You have the power to choose right now. You are free. You are responsible. And good will win.”
That’s a message of joy, not suffering. That’s a message of victory, not martyrdom. That’s a message of empowerment, not submission.
No wonder the demons tried to kill him.
4. Evil Knew What Was Coming
Evil persons were terrified by the divine glow of the child. As they came to know about the birth of this divine child, they trembled, fearing an end to their evil powers and practices.
They didn’t try to kill him because he was dangerous as an infant.
They tried to kill him because they knew what he would become.
They knew that one day, this laughing child would:
Abolish blood sacrifice (their income)
End demon worship (their authority)
Give people direct access to God (their obsolescence)
Teach personal responsibility (their greatest threat)
A baby is helpless. But a baby destined to give humanity freedom?
That’s the most dangerous thing in the world.
The First Words
When he started to speak, he proclaimed the text that was to become “Ahunaver”, the major Zoroastrian prayer.
His first words weren’t crying. His first words were prayer.
Even as an infant, Zarathustra’s instinct was to speak truth, to proclaim divine order, to align himself with Ahura Mazda.
This wasn’t learned. This wasn’t taught. This was his nature.
Why This Birth Matters 3,700 Years Later
Because It Reveals the Difference
Christianity teaches:
Jesus born in poverty and suffering
“Blessed are those who mourn”
Salvation through sacrifice and pain
The cross as the symbol
Islam teaches:
Muhammad orphaned and tested
Submission to Allah’s will
Paradise after endurance
The struggle (jihad) as the path
Buddhism teaches:
Siddhartha born into suffering (samsara)
Life is suffering
Liberation through detachment
The end of desire as the goal
But Zarathustra?
Zarathustra laughed.
He came into the world with joy, not tears. He proclaimed victory, not suffering. He taught choice, not submission. He offered freedom, not escape.
That laugh at birth was the thesis statement for his entire teaching:
“Good wins. You choose. And that’s something to celebrate.”
The Theft Begins Here
When Judaism adopts heaven and hell after the Babylonian Exile (539 BCE), they don’t mention Zarathustra.
When Christianity teaches resurrection and final judgment, they don’t mention Zarathustra.
When Islam establishes five daily prayers and Satan as the adversary, they don’t mention Zarathustra.
But all of them teach concepts that didn’t exist before his birth.
All of them practice theology that appeared 1,700 years after his laugh.
And none of them acknowledge the source.
4.3 billion people today believe in:
Heaven and hell (Zarathustra, 1700 BCE)
Satan as adversary (Zarathustra, 1700 BCE)
Resurrection and judgment (Zarathustra, 1700 BCE)
Personal moral choice (Zarathustra, 1700 BCE)
And almost none of them know the name of the man who brought these ideas into the world.
The man who laughed at birth because he knew good would win.
The Question We Must Ask
If Zarathustra’s birth was marked by:
Divine light radiating from his mother
The rejoicing of all creation
The terror of demons
Multiple miraculous protections
Nature itself refusing to harm him
A laugh instead of a cry
Why is his name forgotten while those who copied his teachings are worshipped?
If Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad are revered for bringing monotheism, resurrection, heaven, hell, and moral choice to humanity—
Why is Zarathustra, who invented all of these concepts 1,000-1,700 years earlier, unknown?
The answer is simple:
Because acknowledging Zarathustra means acknowledging Persia.
And acknowledging Persia means admitting that the entire narrative of Western and Abrahamic civilization is backwards.
So the source is erased.
But the ideas remain.
Every time someone prays five times a day → That’s Zarathustra’s Gah system. Every time someone believes in heaven and hell → That’s Zarathustra’s teaching. Every time someone faces a moral choice → That’s Zarathustra’s framework.
The fire he lit never went out.
They just stopped saying who lit it.
The Invitation
As you continue through this series, you’ll see:
How his 10-year search led to the most revolutionary vision in history
How his teaching of “good thoughts, good words, good deeds” became the foundation of Western ethics
How he was rejected, exiled, nearly killed—then found refuge with a king
How his ideas spread across the Persian Empire
How Judaism adopted them after 70 years in Babylon
How Christianity inherited them without knowing the source
How Islam received them and made them central
How Greek philosophy learned from his priests (the Magi)
How the modern world practices his wisdom while demonizing his homeland
But it all begins here.
With a laugh.
With light.
With a child who entered the world knowing that good would win.

PART II: THE THEOLOGICAL THEFT
Section A: Heaven and Hell
Pre-Exile Judaism: No Heaven or Hell
Academic Consensus:
There is no evidence from the Hebrew Bible that ancient Israelites had a conception of heaven. It was a doctrine introduced to Judaism at a later period of time, either during the Babylonian exile or later.
What They Believed:
The afterlife is simply a House of Dust called Sheol in which the soul lasts for only a brief time. There is no talk or conception of an end of time or history, or of a world beyond this one.
Post-Exile Judaism: Heaven and Hell Appear
Before the Exile, the Hebrews believed that the soul after death went to a house of dust which they called “Sheol,” to abide for a brief time before fading completely from existence.
After Persian Contact:
Judaism also began to develop its own theology of heaven and hell after its contact with Zoroastrianism. The pre-exilic Biblical books do not make reference to “afterlife.” The early Israelite theology was simply that. We came from dust and would return to dust. With the first exile and the new immense exposure to the religion of the Persian Empire, Zoroastrianism, the “Jewish” afterlife stories become mainstream.
Zoroastrian Original (1700 BCE):
House of Song (Garodman) = Paradise for the righteous
House of Lies (Druj Demana) = Punishment for the wicked
Judgment at the Chinvat Bridge determines fate
Your deeds in life determine your afterlife
The Word “Paradise” Itself:
The origin of the word “paradise” is Persian, and the afterlife concept is transferred to post-exilic Judaism.
EVIDENCE SUMMARY:
✅ Pre-Exile: No heaven, no hell, just Sheol (fading existence) ✅ Post-Exile: Heaven and hell suddenly appear ✅ Timing: After 70 years under Persian rule ✅ Source: Zoroastrianism had this 1,100+ years earlier ✅ Academic Consensus: Direct Persian influence documented
Section B: Satan/The Devil
Pre-Exile Judaism: No Satan as Adversary
The Book of Job (Pre-Exile):
Satan in the Hebrew story, Job, is actually a member of Yahweh’s circle; he seems to be some kind of itinerant prosecuting attorney.
He was NOT evil. He was a servant of God.
Judaism does not believe in the popular concept of the devil, which the dualistic notion that there is another power in the world rivaling that of God.
Post-Exile Judaism: Satan Becomes Evil
The Transformation:
After the Babylonian exile, the Hebrews, in their popular religion, talk about an evil force opposed to Yahweh, which becomes the “devil” in Christianity.
Why the Change?
After the Exile, the Hebrews invent a concept of a more or less dualistic universe, in which all good and right comes from Yahweh, while all evil arises from a powerful principle of evil. Such a dualistic view of the universe helps to explain tragedies such as the Exile.
Academic Analysis:
Persian influence is noticeable in Jewish apocalyptic literature (symbolism of good vs. evil, angelology, figure of Satan as “fallen angel” and personified evil).
Zoroastrian Original (1700 BCE):
Angra Mainyu (Ahriman):
The first “devil” in human history
Cosmic adversary of Ahura Mazda
Embodies evil, chaos, destruction (Druj)
Leads demons (daevas) against truth
Will be defeated in final battle (Frashokereti)
The Dualistic Framework:
This dualistic religion, which presented a cosmic struggle between good (Ahura Mazda) and evil (Angra Mainyu), significantly influenced Jewish theology and the perception of evil. Zoroastrianism introduced the idea of a clear moral dualism, with good and evil as opposing and irreducible forces. This view contrasted with the pre-exilic Jewish conception, where evil was seen as an internal force or a consequence of sin.
The Model:
This personification of evil in the figure of Angra Mainyu may have served as a model for later Judaism, which gradually transformed Satan, initially a servant of God, into the personification of evil and the primary adversary of God.
EVIDENCE SUMMARY:
✅ Pre-Exile: Satan = prosecutor in God’s court (not evil) ✅ Post-Exile: Satan = cosmic adversary, embodiment of evil ✅ Timing: After Persian contact ✅ Source: Angra Mainyu in Zoroastrianism (1,100+ years earlier) ✅ Mechanism: Dualistic worldview adopted from Persia ✅ Academic Consensus: Direct influence documented
Section C: Resurrection of the Dead
Pre-Exile Judaism: No Resurrection
What Early Judaism Believed:
There still, however, is no afterlife of rewards and punishments in the prophets, but a kind of House of Dust, called Sheol, to which all souls go after their death to abide for a time before disappearing from existence forever.
Death was final. No coming back.
Post-Exile Judaism: Resurrection Appears
The Pharisees vs. Sadducees Split:
In the late Second Temple period, the Pharisees and Essenes believed in the immortality of the soul, but the Sadducees did not.
Why the disagreement? Because resurrection was a new concept, adopted from Persia. Traditional Jews (Sadducees) rejected it. Reformers (Pharisees) accepted it.
When It Became Jewish Doctrine:
Greek and Persian culture influenced early Jewish beliefs of an afterlife between the 6th and 4th centuries BCE, as well. The Hebrew Bible, at least its rabbinic interpretation in tractate Sanhedrin, contains frequent references to the resurrection of the dead.
Zoroastrian Original (1700 BCE):
The Frashokereti (Final Renovation):
All dead will be resurrected
Bodies reunited with souls
Final judgment for all
Righteous live forever in perfected world
Wicked punished, then purified
The Chinvat Bridge:
Soul judged three days after death
Deeds weighed
Righteous cross to House of Song
Wicked fall to House of Lies
ALL eventually resurrected for final transformation
This concept is CORE to Zoroastrianism from the beginning.
EVIDENCE SUMMARY:
✅ Pre-Exile: No resurrection, souls fade in Sheol ✅ Post-Exile: Resurrection becomes Jewish belief (Pharisees) ✅ Timing: 6th-4th century BCE (post-Exile period) ✅ Source: Zoroastrian Frashokereti (1,100+ years earlier) ✅ Christian Inheritance: Jesus’s resurrection fits Zoroastrian framework ✅ Islamic Inheritance: Qiyamah (Day of Resurrection) = same concept
Section D: Final Judgment & Apocalypse
Pre-Exile Judaism: No End Times
There is no talk or conception of an end of time or history, or of a world beyond this one.
Time was either cyclical or undefined. History had no goal.
After the Exile, however, popular religion among the Judaeans and the Jews of the Diaspora include several innovations… Popular Jewish religion begins to form an elaborate theology of the end of time, in which a deliverer would defeat once and for all the forces of evil and unrighteousness.
What Appeared:
Second Temple Jewish eschatology has similarities with Zoroastrianism.
The War of Gog and Magog:
According to Ezekiel 38, the “war of Gog and Magog” is a climactic war that will happen at the end of the Jewish exile.
This is a post-Exile addition to Jewish theology.
Zoroastrian Original (1700 BCE):
Frashokereti – “The Making Wonderful”:
History moves toward a final goal
Ahura Mazda will triumph over Angra Mainyu
Saoshyant (World Savior) will lead the final battle
All dead resurrected
Wicked purified through molten metal
World restored to original perfection
Evil destroyed forever
Eternal paradise for all
Linear Time:
History has a beginning, middle, and END
Not cyclical (like Greek/Hindu thought)
Progress toward ultimate good
Purpose-driven universe
How This Became “Jewish”:
The Book of Daniel (written during/after Exile) contains the most explicit apocalyptic visions in the Hebrew Bible. It was written when Jews were under Persian influence.
The Book of Revelation (Christian) = elaboration of Danielic apocalypticism = ultimately Zoroastrian.
EVIDENCE SUMMARY:
✅ Pre-Exile: No end times, no final battle, no cosmic goal ✅ Post-Exile: Elaborate apocalyptic theology emerges ✅ Timing: During/after Babylonian Exile ✅ Source: Zoroastrian Frashokereti (1,100+ years earlier) ✅ Christian Inheritance: Book of Revelation = Frashokereti framework ✅ Islamic Inheritance: Day of Judgment (Yawm al-Qiyamah) = same concept ✅ Western Concept: “History has a purpose” = Zoroastrian
Section E: Named Angels
Pre-Exile Judaism: Generic Messengers
What Early Judaism Had:
“Mal’akh” = messenger (generic term)
No personal names
No elaborate hierarchy
Just “the angel of the Lord”
Post-Exile Judaism: Angels Get Names
Suddenly We See:
Michael (who is like God?)
Gabriel (strength of God)
Raphael (healing of God)
Uriel (light of God)
When This Happened:
Persian influence is noticeable in Jewish apocalyptic literature (symbolism of good vs. evil, angelology, figure of Satan as “fallen angel” and personified evil).
Where They Appear:
Book of Daniel (written during/after Exile)
Book of Enoch (Second Temple period)
Book of Tobit (post-Exile)
ALL POST-EXILE TEXTS.
Zoroastrian Original (1700 BCE):
The Amesha Spentas (Holy Immortals):
Vohu Manah (Good Mind/Thought)
Asha Vahishta (Best Truth/Righteousness)
Khshathra Vairya (Desirable Dominion)
Spenta Armaiti (Holy Devotion)
Haurvatat (Wholeness/Health)
Ameretat (Immortality)
Plus countless Yazatas (worthy of worship):
Mithra (covenant/light)
Sraosha (obedience)
Rashnu (justice)
And many more, all with specific names and roles
This elaborate angelology existed in Zoroastrianism from the beginning.
The Pattern:
Judaism before Exile: Angels are generic. Judaism after Exile: Angels have names, personalities, hierarchies. Source: Zoroastrian Amesha Spentas and Yazatas.
EVIDENCE SUMMARY:
✅ Pre-Exile: Generic “messengers,” no names ✅ Post-Exile: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael appear ✅ Timing: Post-Exile texts only ✅ Source: Zoroastrian Amesha Spentas (1,100+ years earlier) ✅ Christian Inheritance: Archangels in New Testament ✅ Islamic Inheritance: Jibril (Gabriel), Mikail (Michael), Israfil, Azrael
Isaiah (especially Second Isaiah, written during Exile)
Daniel (post-Exile)
Dead Sea Scrolls (Second Temple)
Psalms of Solomon (post-Exile)
Zoroastrian Original (1700 BCE):
The Saoshyant (World Savior):
Born of Zarathustra’s seed (preserved in sacred lake)
THREE future saviors:
Ukhshyat-ereta (1,000 years later)
Ukhshyat-nemah (2,000 years later)
Astavat-ereta (3,000 years later) – the final one
Will oversee resurrection of all dead
Will defeat Angra Mainyu forever
Will restore world to perfection (Frashokereti)
Brings final judgment and redemption
This is THE prototype for the Messiah as cosmic savior.
The Biblical Proof: Cyrus Called “Messiah”
Isaiah 45:1 (Written During Exile):
This is what the LORD says to Cyrus His anointed, whose right hand I have grasped to subdue nations before him.
“Anointed” = Hebrew “Mashiach” = MESSIAH
The Persian emperor Cyrus is the only foreigner in the Bible to be identified as the messiah or anointed one of Yahweh, the Israelite God.
Why This Matters:
Cyrus was a Zoroastrian. By calling him “messiah,” Second Isaiah applies a Persian theological framework to a Persian king practicing the Persian religion.
This reveals the source: The Messiah concept is Zoroastrian.
EVIDENCE SUMMARY:
✅ Pre-Exile: Messiah = current king (political role) ✅ Post-Exile: Messiah = future cosmic savior ✅ Timing: Transformation during Babylonian Exile ✅ First “Messiah” Title: Given to Cyrus, a Zoroastrian Persian ✅ Source: Saoshyant in Zoroastrianism (1,100+ years earlier) ✅ Christian Inheritance: Jesus as “the Messiah” = Saoshyant framework ✅ Islamic Inheritance: Mahdi = eschatological redeemer = same concept
Section G: Linear Time & Historical Purpose
Pre-Exile Judaism: Time Undefined
Early Jewish Concept:
Time mostly cyclical (seasons, festivals)
History as ongoing without clear endpoint
No teleology (purpose/goal)
Focus on present covenant relationship
Post-Exile Judaism: History Has a Goal
The New Framework:
Time moves TOWARD something
History has a purpose
The world is moving toward redemption
The Messianic Age will come
Evil will be defeated ONCE AND FOR ALL
Then: eternal peace
This is revolutionary.
Zoroastrian Original (1700 BCE):
The Invention of Linear Time:
Zarathustra taught that history has:
Beginning: Creation by Ahura Mazda
Middle: The current age (mixture of good and evil)
End: Frashokereti (final triumph of good)
The Timeline:
3,000 years of perfect creation
3,000 years of evil’s attack
3,000 years of battle
3,000 years moving toward victory
Total: 12,000 years → then ETERNAL PARADISE
This is the first LINEAR conception of time in history.
The Western Inheritance:
This Zoroastrian framework became:
Jewish Messianic Age
Christian Second Coming
Islamic Day of Judgment
Marxist dialectical materialism (history → communist utopia)
Liberal “progress narrative” (history → enlightenment)
American exceptionalism (manifest destiny)
ALL concepts of “history moving toward a goal” = Zoroastrian
The Alternative (Without Zarathustra):
Greek: Cyclical time (eternal recurrence)
Hindu: Cyclical time (yugas repeating forever)
Buddhist: Time as illusion
Pagan: Seasonal cycles, no endpoint
Linear time with purpose? That’s Zarathustra.
EVIDENCE SUMMARY:
✅ Pre-Zoroastrianism: Cyclical time (eternal recurrence) ✅ Post-Zarathustra: Linear time with cosmic purpose ✅ Jewish Adoption: Messianic Age as endpoint of history ✅ Christian Adoption: Second Coming as final culmination ✅ Islamic Adoption: Day of Judgment as history’s goal ✅ Western Adoption: “Progress” as secular Frashokereti ✅ Source: Zarathustra, 1700 BCE
PART III: THE BABYLONIAN EXILE CONNECTION
The 70-Year Transformation
The Historical Facts:
586 BCE:
Babylonians destroy Jerusalem
Temple burned
Elite Jews exiled to Babylon
70 years of captivity begin
539 BCE:
Cyrus the Great (Zoroastrian) conquers Babylon
Jews now under Persian Zoroastrian rule
Cyrus allows return to Jerusalem (538 BCE)
But many stay in Babylon/Persia
Duration of Contact:
Minimum: 70 years in Babylon
Reality: Centuries under Persian rule
Result: Complete theological transformation
What Changed:
During the Babylonian captivity of the 6th and 5th centuries BCE (Iron Age II), certain circles within exiled Judeans in Babylon refined pre-existing ideas about Yahwism, such as the nature of divine election, law and covenants. Their ideas came to dominate the Jewish community in the following centuries.
The “Refinement” Was Actually Adoption:
The Jews had learned many things from the Persians and actively included Persian elements in their religion. It’s important to note that this occurred side by side with the effort to purify the religion! Most of these elements were popular elements rather than official beliefs.
The Mechanism: Syncretism
The process of one religion adopting “foreign” aspects of another is called syncretism. To make the process complete, the adoptees often create internal origins for what had been external, non-related beliefs and customs.
How It Works:
Adopt foreign concept
Adapt it to local tradition
Attribute it to your own revelation
Forget/hide the original source
Teach it as native tradition
This is exactly what happened with Judaism and Zoroastrianism.
Scholarly Consensus on Persian Influence
Academic Sources:
Zoroastrianism is the world’s oldest surviving monotheistic religion and, many scholars think, the original source of religious conceptions of heaven, hell, Satan and Judgment Day in Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Second Temple Jewish eschatology has similarities with Zoroastrianism.
Persian influence is noticeable in Jewish apocalyptic literature (symbolism of good vs. evil, angelology, figure of Satan as “fallen angel” and personified evil).
Perhaps in an effort to make sense of the Exile, the Hebrews gradually adopted the Persian idea that the universe is composed of two diametrically opposed forces, one good, and the other evil.
Peschl says that after the Babylonian exile, when the Jews were temporarily expelled from Israel, many chose to remain in Babylonian Empire, where they exchanged religious ideas with Zoroastrians.
Not Fringe Theory:
This is mainstream biblical scholarship:
Mary Boyce (Oxford, world’s leading Zoroastrian scholar)
James Barr (Oxford)
Martin Hengel (Tübingen)
John J. Collins (Yale)
Norman Cohn (Cambridge)
They all acknowledge Persian influence on Second Temple Judaism.
The only debate is how much. Not whether.
The Three Factions: Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes
Why Did Jews Split Into Three Groups?
Because of disagreement about Persian concepts.
From the 5th century BCE until 70 CE, Yahwism evolved into the various theological schools of Second Temple Judaism.
The Sadducees: “Reject Persian Concepts”
What They Believed:
No resurrection
No afterlife rewards/punishments
No angels or spirits
ONLY the Torah (no later additions)
In the late Second Temple period, the Pharisees and Essenes believed in the immortality of the soul, but the Sadducees did not.
Why? Because resurrection is Persian. They rejected it.
Result: Sadducees went extinct after 70 CE.
The Pharisees: “Accept But Hide the Source”
What They Believed:
Resurrection: YES
Heaven and hell: YES
Angels: YES
Satan as adversary: YES
Final judgment: YES
Messiah as savior: YES
But: They reframed these as “Jewish” discoveries, not Persian borrowings.
Result: Pharisees became Rabbinic Judaism. They won. Their version became “mainstream Judaism.”
The Essenes: “Embrace and Acknowledge Persia”
What They Believed:
Extreme dualism (good vs. evil)
“Sons of Light” vs. “Sons of Darkness”
Apocalyptic end times
Ritual purity
Communal living
The Dead Sea Scrolls show explicit Zoroastrian influence:
War Scroll (final battle)
Community Rule (dualistic worldview)
Angelic hierarchies
Result: Essenes were suppressed. Their texts hidden (until 1947).
The Pattern:
Faction 1 (Sadducees): Reject Persian concepts → Extinct Faction 2 (Pharisees): Accept Persian concepts, hide source → Became mainstream Judaism Faction 3 (Essenes): Accept Persian concepts, acknowledge source → Suppressed
The faction that HID THE SOURCE won everything.
That’s why 4.3 billion people practice Persian wisdom without knowing it.
PART IV: CYRUS THE GREAT – THE ZOROASTRIAN MESSIAH
Isaiah 45:1 – Biblical Proof
The Text:
Isaiah 45:1 (Hebrew Bible):
כֹּה־אָמַר יְהוָה לִמְשִׁיחוֹ לְכוֹרֶשׁ
Translation:
This is what the LORD says to Cyrus His anointed
“Anointed” = מְשִׁיחוֹ = MASHIACH = MESSIAH
The Significance:
The Persian emperor Cyrus is the only foreigner in the Bible to be identified as the messiah or anointed one of Yahweh, the Israelite God.
Let that sink in:
The FIRST person called “Messiah” in the prophetic sense
A PERSIAN EMPEROR
A ZOROASTRIAN
Who freed the Jews and funded the Temple
What This Reveals:
By calling Cyrus “messiah,” Second Isaiah (written during the Exile) applies a Persian theological framework to a Persian king practicing the Persian religion.
This is not subtle. This is explicit acknowledgment that:
Persian rulers can be instruments of God’s will
The Messiah concept includes Persian figures
Jewish theology was being reshaped by Persian influence
The Only Foreigner Called “Messiah”
Every Other “Messiah” in the Hebrew Bible:
Kings of Israel (David, Solomon, etc.)
High Priests
Prophets
All Jews. All within the covenant.
Except Cyrus.
Why This Is Revolutionary:
Cyrus was:
Not Jewish
Not circumcised
Not following Torah
Not worshiping in the Temple
He was a Zoroastrian worshiping Ahura Mazda.
And yet: Isaiah calls him MESSIAH.
What Isaiah Says About Cyrus:
Isaiah 44:28: “Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is my shepherd and will accomplish all that I please; he will say of Jerusalem, “Let it be rebuilt,” and of the temple, “Let its foundations be laid.”‘”
Isaiah 45:1-3: “This is what the LORD says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armor, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut: I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.”
Isaiah 45:13: “I will raise up Cyrus in my righteousness: I will make all his ways straight. He will rebuild my city and set my exiles free, but not for a price or reward, says the LORD Almighty.”
The Theological Implication:
If a Zoroastrian Persian can be “messiah”—if he can be the instrument of God’s redemption—then the Zoroastrian framework is compatible with Jewish theology.
This opened the door for:
Heaven and hell (Zoroastrian)
Resurrection (Zoroastrian)
Final judgment (Zoroastrian)
Satan as adversary (Zoroastrian)
Linear time (Zoroastrian)
All validated by calling Cyrus “messiah.”
What This Reveals
The Hidden Admission:
By naming a Zoroastrian “messiah,” Judaism implicitly acknowledged that:
Persian theology contains truth
Ahura Mazda’s worshipers can be righteous
The Zoroastrian framework is valid
Persian concepts can be integrated into Jewish belief
But later, the source was hidden.
Christianity inherited “the Messiah” concept thinking it was purely Jewish.
Islam inherited it thinking it was Judeo-Christian.
Neither knew it began with a Persian Zoroastrian emperor.
EVIDENCE SUMMARY:
✅ Isaiah 45:1: Cyrus explicitly called “Messiah” (māšîªḥ) ✅ Only foreigner given this title in Hebrew Bible ✅ Cyrus was Zoroastrian (worshiped Ahura Mazda) ✅ Written during Exile (direct Persian influence) ✅ Implications: Validates Persian theological framework ✅ Result: Opened door for adoption of Zoroastrian concepts ✅ Modern amnesia: Almost no one knows the first “Messiah” was Persian
PART V: CHRISTIANITY & ISLAM’S INHERITANCE
How Christianity Got Zoroastrian Concepts
The Transmission Path:
Zarathustra (1700 BCE) ↓ Zoroastrianism spreads across Persia ↓ Jews live under Persian rule (539-332 BCE) ↓ Post-Exile Judaism adopts concepts ↓ Jesus (a Jew) teaches these concepts (30 CE) ↓ Christianity inherits them (thinking they’re “Jewish”) ↓ Islam inherits them (thinking they’re “Judeo-Christian”)
None of the later religions knew the Persian source.
Christianity’s Zoroastrian DNA
1. Heaven and Hell
Christian Doctrine:
Heaven (paradise) for believers
Hell (eternal punishment) for unbelievers
Judgment determines destination
Source: Zoroastrian House of Song and House of Lies (1700 BCE)
Even the word “paradise” = Persian “pairidaēza”
2. Satan as Fallen Angel
Christian Doctrine:
Satan = adversary of God
Fallen angel who rebelled
Leads demons against God
Will be defeated in final battle
Source: Angra Mainyu (Ahriman) in Zoroastrianism (1700 BCE)
The fallen angel narrative = elaboration of Angra Mainyu’s opposition to Ahura Mazda
The “third day” = Zoroastrian belief that soul is judged three days after death
4. Second Coming & Final Judgment
Christian Doctrine:
Jesus will return
Final battle (Armageddon)
All dead resurrected
Final judgment of all souls
New heaven and new earth
Evil destroyed forever
Source: Zoroastrian Frashokereti (1700 BCE)
Book of Revelation = Christian version of Frashokereti
5. The Magi Visit Jesus
Matthew 2:1-12:
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem.
Who Were the Magi?
Zoroastrian priests.
Not “wise men.” Not “kings.” Magi = Zoroastrian priesthood.
Why This Matters:
The Magi recognized Jesus at birth because they recognized their own prophecy (the Saoshyant/Savior).
They knew what they were looking for because Zarathustra taught it 1,700 years earlier.
The Christian nativity story begins with Zoroastrian priests acknowledging Jesus as the fulfillment of Zoroastrian eschatology.
This is explicit acknowledgment of the Persian source—then forgotten.
The Five Daily Prayers (Islam)
Islamic Practice: Salah
Five Daily Prayers:
Fajr (dawn)
Dhuhr (midday)
Asr (afternoon)
Maghrib (sunset)
Isha (night)
Required elements:
Facing specific direction (Qibla = Kaaba)
Ritual washing before prayer (wudu)
Specific times of day
Prostration and standing
Islamic belief: Revealed by Allah to Muhammad
Zoroastrian Original: Gah System
Five Daily Prayers (Established 1700 BCE):
Hawan Gah (sunrise to noon)
Rapithwin Gah (noon to mid-afternoon)
Uziran Gah (mid-afternoon to sunset)
Aiwisruthrem Gah (sunset to midnight)
Ushahin Gah (midnight to dawn)
Required elements:
Facing sacred fire (or direction of fire temple)
Ritual washing before prayer (padyab)
Specific times of day
Standing before fire
Reciting prayers in Avestan
The structure is IDENTICAL.
The Evidence:
Before praying, believers must perform ritual ablutions, washing their hands, face, and arms. Prayers are recited from a standing position, after which the believer bows low before kneeling and prostrating before Ahura Mazda.
Compare to Islamic wudu and prayer movements.
The Zoroastrian five-fold daily prayer is the clearest example of Islamic religious practice that is in reality, Zoroastrian.
Academic Consensus:
The Islamic practice of five daily prayers (salat) has parallels with Zoroastrian prayer schedules (gahs). Both traditions emphasize ritual purity, specific prayer times, and orientation toward a sacred direction.
Transmission Path:
Zarathustra (1700 BCE) → Zoroastrian Gah system → Persian influence in Arabia → Islam adopts structure → Claims divine revelation
Result: 1.9 billion Muslims pray five times daily using a Persian Zoroastrian framework.

PART VI: GREEK PHILOSOPHY’S PERSIAN SOURCE
Pythagoras & the Magi
The Standard Story:
What We’re Taught:
Pythagoras (570-495 BCE) = father of Western philosophy
Invented mathematical philosophy
Founded philosophical school
Created concept of “philosophy” (love of wisdom)
The Hidden Truth:
Pythagoras studied under Zoroastrian Magi in Babylon.
Academic Evidence:
The ancient Greeks saw in Zoroastrianism the archetype of the dualistic view of the world and human destiny. Zarathushtra was supposed to have instructed Pythagoras in Babylon and to have inspired the Chaldean doctrines of astrology and magic.
The encyclopedia Natural History (Pliny) claims that Zoroastrians later educated the Greeks who, starting with Pythagoras, used a similar term, philosophy, or “love of wisdom” to describe the search for ultimate truth.
Plato’s “Theory of Forms” = Greek elaboration of Zoroastrian Menog/Getig
The Transmission:
After Cyrus conquered Babylon (539 BCE), Zoroastrian Magi spread across the empire, including Greek territories.
Greek philosophers in Ionia (western Turkey) and mainland Greece encountered Persian wisdom through:
Persian occupation of Ionia
Trade routes
Magi teachers in major cities
Persian court contacts
Greek philosophy = synthesis of Greek thought + Persian Zoroastrian wisdom
But only the Greek names are remembered.
EVIDENCE SUMMARY:
✅ Pythagoras: Documented study under Magi in Babylon ✅ “Philosophy” term: Borrowed from Zoroastrian “love of wisdom” ✅ Heraclitus: Fire philosophy = Zoroastrian fire/Asha concept ✅ Plato: Dualism = Greek version of Menog/Getig ✅ Western canon: Credits Greeks, erases Persian teachers ✅ Reality: “Greek philosophy” = Greek language + Persian ideas
PART VII: LINGUISTIC EVIDENCE
“Paradise” = Persian Word
The Etymology:
English: Paradise Latin: Paradisus Greek: Παράδεισος (Paradeisos) Hebrew: פַּרְדֵּס (Pardes) – borrowed word Persian (Avestan):Pairidaēza
Meaning: “Walled enclosure” or “walled garden”
Original use: Persian royal gardens, hunting parks
Religious meaning: The perfect garden of afterlife bliss
Usage in Religious Texts:
Old Testament:
Nehemiah 2:8 (post-Exile)
Ecclesiastes 2:5 (post-Exile)
Song of Solomon 4:13 (post-Exile)
ALL post-Exile texts using a Persian loanword.
New Testament:
Luke 23:43 – “Today you will be with me in Paradise”
2 Corinthians 12:4 – “was caught up to Paradise”
Revelation 2:7 – “tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God”
Quran:
Jannah (Arabic for “garden”) = conceptual equivalent
Firdaws (borrowed from Persian) = highest paradise
The word itself proves Persian origin of the concept.
Magi = Zoroastrian priests with specialized knowledge
Greeks encountered Magi performing rituals
Magi knowledge included:
Astronomy/astrology
Mathematics
Medicine
Ritual procedures
Divination
Greeks didn’t understand the science, called it “mageia”
“Magic” = debased term for Magi knowledge
“Magic” literally means “what the Magi do.”
Biblical Usage:
Matthew 2:1: “Magi from the east came to Jerusalem”
Not “wise men.” Not “kings.” MAGI = Zoroastrian priests.
The Christian nativity story begins with Zoroastrian priests recognizing Jesus.
This is explicit acknowledgment that Christianity’s origins involve Persian Zoroastrian recognition.
Avestan/Hebrew Borrowings
Hebrew Words Borrowed from Persian:
HEBREW WORD
PERSIAN/AVESTAN SOURCE
MEANING
FIRST APPEARS
פַּרְדֵּס (Pardes)
Pairidaēza
Paradise/Garden
Post-Exile
שָׂטָן (Satan)
Possibly Avestan influence on concept
Adversary (changed meaning)
Post-Exile usage change
גַּן עֵדֶן (Gan Eden)
Conceptually from Pairidaēza
Garden of Eden/Heaven
Post-Exile
דָּת (Dat)
Old Persian “dāta”
Law/Religion
Post-Exile
פִּתְגָם (Pitgam)
Old Persian “patigāma”
Decree/Word
Post-Exile (Esther, Ecclesiastes)
אַפַּרְסַתְכַיָא (Afarsatkhaya)
Persian administrative term
Officials
Ezra (post-Exile)
Pattern: Persian loanwords appear ONLY in post-Exile texts.
Conceptual Borrowings (Not Just Words):
Even where Hebrew uses native words, the concepts are borrowed:
Resurrection (תְּחִיַּת הַמֵּתִים) – Hebrew words, Persian concept
Heaven/Hell (גַּן עֵדֶן/גֵּיהִנּוֹם) – Hebrew words, Persian concept
Final Judgment (יוֹם הַדִּין) – Hebrew words, Persian concept
Messiah as savior (מָשִׁיחַ) – Hebrew word, Persian concept (Saoshyant)
The words are Hebrew. The theology is Persian.
EVIDENCE SUMMARY:
✅ “Paradise”: Persian word (pairidaēza) used in Hebrew, Greek, Latin, English ✅ “Magic/Magi”: Literally means “Zoroastrian priest knowledge” ✅ Persian loanwords: Appear ONLY in post-Exile Hebrew texts ✅ Conceptual borrowing: Hebrew words, Persian theology ✅ Linguistic proof: Supports theological theft timeline
PART VIII: THE MODERN ERASURE
Why The Source Was Forgotten
Mechanism 1: Syncretism & Attribution
The Process:
Adopt foreign concept (Zoroastrian ideas)
Adapt it to local tradition (make it “Jewish”)
Attribute it to your own revelation (“God told us”)
Attack or forget the source (Persia becomes irrelevant/enemy)
This is how cultural theft becomes permanent.
Mechanism 2: Political Necessity
For Post-Exile Judaism:
Had to maintain distinct identity under foreign rule
Couldn’t openly say “we learned this from Persians”
Had to frame innovations as “recovery of ancient truth”
Result: Persian concepts became “rediscovered Jewish tradition”
Result: Scholars see Judaism → Christianity flow, miss Persian source
Academic Acknowledgment vs. Public Knowledge
What Scholars Know:
Academic consensus exists:
“It is likely that Zoroastrianism influenced the development of Judaism and the birth of Christianity.”
“Zoroastrianism is the world’s oldest surviving monotheistic religion and, many scholars think, the original source of religious conceptions of heaven, hell, Satan and Judgment Day in Judaism, Christianity and Islam.”
“Second Temple Jewish eschatology has similarities with Zoroastrianism.”
Leading scholars acknowledge this:
Mary Boyce (Oxford)
James Barr (Oxford)
Norman Cohn (Cambridge)
John J. Collins (Yale)
What the Public Knows:
Ask 100 people on the street:
“Where did the concepts of heaven and hell come from?”
Answers you’ll get:
“The Bible”
“Jesus”
“Christianity”
“Judaism”
“God revealed it”
Ask: “Did they come from Zoroastrianism?”
99 will say: “What’s Zoroastrianism?”
The Knowledge Gap:
In academic journals and specialist books: Persian influence acknowledged
In textbooks, encyclopedias, popular media: Persian influence absent or minimized
In religious education: Persian source never mentioned
In public consciousness: Complete amnesia
This is systematic erasure.
The Geopolitical Consequences
The Modern Irony:
Iran Today:
Sanctioned by Western powers
Labeled “axis of evil”
Portrayed as civilizational threat
Zoroastrians reduced to 100,000-200,000 worldwide
Meanwhile:
2.4 billion Christians practice Zoroastrian concepts
1.9 billion Muslims practice Zoroastrian framework
Western ethics built on Zoroastrian free will
Western “progress narrative” = secular Frashokereti
The civilization that gave the world its moral framework is now demonized by those who inherited that framework.
Would sanctions against Iran be politically viable?
Would “clash of civilizations” rhetoric work?
Would Zoroastrians be a forgotten minority?
The Power of Historical Amnesia:
Forgetting the source enables:
Political demonization of modern Iranians
Religious supremacy claims (“our revelation is unique”)
Cultural superiority narratives (“we invented civilization”)
Continued marginalization of Zoroastrians
Remembering the source would require:
Acknowledging debt to Persian civilization
Recognizing Iran’s foundational contribution
Crediting Zarathustra alongside Moses, Jesus, Muhammad
Protecting remaining Zoroastrian communities
This is why the erasure was necessary.
And why mazda.aeuua.com/ exists: to restore the memory.
CONCLUSION: THE UNDENIABLE CASE
Summary of Evidence
Timeline Proof:
✅ Zoroastrian concepts exist in 1700 BCE ✅ Jewish concepts absent before 586 BCE ✅ Jewish concepts appear after 539 BCE ✅ Direct contact during 70-year Exile ✅ NO alternative explanation for sudden transformation
Theological Proof:
✅ Heaven/Hell – Zoroastrian first ✅ Satan – Zoroastrian Angra Mainyu first ✅ Resurrection – Zoroastrian first ✅ Final Judgment – Zoroastrian Frashokereti first ✅ Named Angels – Zoroastrian Amesha Spentas first ✅ Messiah concept – Zoroastrian Saoshyant first ✅ Linear time – Zoroastrian first ✅ Free will/moral choice – Zoroastrian first
Biblical Proof:
✅ Cyrus (Zoroastrian) called “Messiah” (Isaiah 45:1) ✅ Magi (Zoroastrian priests) recognize Jesus (Matthew 2) ✅ Persian loanwords only in post-Exile texts ✅ Three Jewish factions split over Persian concepts ✅ Sadducees (rejecting Persian ideas) go extinct ✅ Pharisees (accepting Persian ideas) become mainstream
Linguistic Proof:
✅ “Paradise” = Persian word (pairidaēza) ✅ “Magic/Magi” = Zoroastrian priests ✅ Persian loanwords appear post-Exile only ✅ Hebrew words, Persian theology
Ritual Proof:
✅ Five daily prayers (Islam) = Gah system (Zoroastrianism) ✅ Confirmation (Christianity) = Navjote (Zoroastrianism) ✅ Eucharist (Christianity) = Haoma ritual (Zoroastrianism) ✅ Baptism (Christianity) = Padyab purification (Zoroastrianism)
Philosophical Proof:
✅ Pythagoras studied under Magi (documented) ✅ “Philosophy” term borrowed from Magi teachings ✅ Heraclitus’s fire = Zoroastrian Asha ✅ Plato’s dualism = Zoroastrian Menog/Getig
Academic Consensus:
✅ Leading scholars acknowledge Persian influence ✅ Mainstream biblical scholarship accepts Exile connection ✅ Debate is only about degree, not existence ✅ Evidence published in peer-reviewed journals
The Verdict
4.3 billion people practice beliefs invented by Zarathustra in 1700 BCE.
Judaism adopted them during the Babylonian Exile (586-539 BCE).
Christianity inherited them thinking they were Jewish.
Islam inherited them thinking they were Judeo-Christian.
Greek philosophy learned them from Zoroastrian Magi.
The West built its ethics on Persian free will and linear time.
And almost no one knows Zarathustra’s name.
The Question That Remains
Why is this not common knowledge?
Because acknowledging Zarathustra means acknowledging Persia.
And acknowledging Persia means admitting:
The Abrahamic religions share a Persian root
Western philosophy has Persian origins
Modern ethics came from Iran
The “clash of civilizations” is built on amnesia
So the source was erased.
But the evidence remains.
And the fire still burns.
The Invitation
This compendium documents the undeniable:
Zarathustra gave humanity its most important ideas.
Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Western philosophy all borrowed from him.
4.3 billion people live by his wisdom.
The least they can do is know his name.
THE FIRE NEVER WENT OUT.
THEY JUST STOPPED SAYING WHO LIT IT.

END OF EVIDENCE COMPENDIUM
“The evidence is undeniable. The timeline is irrefutable. The influence is documented. The only question left is: Why don’t more people know?”
Answer: Because the theft was systematic. And the erasure was intentional.
But the truth can be recovered. And the source can be honored.
The Man Who Invented Morality (And Had It Stolen 3,700 Years Later)
The Greatest Story Never Told
4.3 billion people practice his ideas.
Almost none of them know his name.
Who Was Zarathustra?
Born laughing in 1700 BCE, Zarathustra Spitama was:
The first philosopher in human history
The founder of monotheism (1,000 years before Moses)
The inventor of free will and moral choice
The original source of heaven, hell, Satan, resurrection, and final judgment
Every major religion that came after—Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Greek philosophy—would adopt his revolutionary concepts and claim them as their own.
This is the systematic theft of credit for the most important ideas humanity ever received.
The Revolutionary Vision
Before Zarathustra (Pre-1700 BCE):
❌ Multiple gods demanding blood sacrifice
❌ Humans as puppets of fate
❌ No personal responsibility
❌ No heaven or hell
❌ No moral choice
❌ Cyclical time with no purpose
After Zarathustra (1700 BCE):
✅ One God – Ahura Mazda (The Wise Lord)
✅ Free Will – You choose between good and evil
✅ Personal Responsibility – Your choices determine your fate
✅ Heaven and Hell – Eternal reward or punishment
✅ Satan – Angra Mainyu, the first “devil” in history
✅ Resurrection – The dead will rise for final judgment
✅ Linear Time – History moves toward the triumph of good (Frashokereti)
✅ Ethical Living – “Good thoughts, good words, good deeds”
Sound familiar?
It should. Because every religion you know copied these concepts from Zarathustra.
The Timeline of Theft
1700 BCE: Zarathustra Creates the Concepts
The vision. The revelation. The birth of ethical monotheism.
586-539 BCE: Judaism Adopts Them
70 years of Babylonian Exile under Persian rule. Suddenly:
Heaven and hell appear in Jewish texts
Satan becomes an adversary
Resurrection and final judgment emerge
Angels receive names
The Messiah concept is born
Before the Exile? None of these concepts existed in Judaism.
30 CE: Christianity Inherits Them
Jesus teaches Zoroastrian concepts without knowing their source. The Magi (Zoroastrian priests) recognize him at birth. Christianity spreads Persian theology as “Christian” doctrine.
610 CE: Islam Receives Them
Five daily prayers, heaven and hell, final judgment, Satan, resurrection—all inherited through the Judeo-Christian tradition, all traceable to Zarathustra.
600-300 BCE: Greek Philosophy Claims Them
Pythagoras taught by Zoroastrian Magi. Heraclitus and Plato learn from Persian wisdom. “Greek philosophy” = rebranded Persian knowledge.
Present Day: The Source Is Forgotten
2.4 billion Christians practice Zarathustra’s beliefs
1.9 billion Muslims follow his framework
15 million Jews inherited his concepts
Western ethics built on his principles
Total: 4.3+ billion people
Zoroastrians remaining: 100,000-200,000
Iran is sanctioned as “evil.”The man who gave humanity morality is unknown. The theft is complete.
THE SERIES: 10 Episodes Through His Life
Walk through the extraordinary life of the man who changed human consciousness forever—then watch as his ideas were systematically stolen and rebranded by later civilizations.
EPISODE 1: The Birth of Light
The Miraculous Arrival (c. 1700 BCE)
Every prophet cried at birth. Zarathustra laughed.
His mother radiated divine light. Demons tried to prevent his arrival. When he emerged, his laughter shook the entire neighborhood. This wasn’t just a birth—it was an announcement: a revolutionary had arrived.

EPISODE 2: The Priest Who Questioned Everything
Childhood & Early Training (Birth – Age 20)
He was trained to perform blood sacrifices. He refused.
Born into the priestly Spitama family, young Zarathustra watched the old religion’s cruelty: gods demanding animal slaughter, priests exploiting fear, humans treated as slaves to capricious deities. At age 7, assassins tried to kill him. He survived and began asking the questions no one dared ask: Why must gods demand suffering? What if there’s a better way?

EPISODE 3: The Ten-Year Search
The Wilderness Years (Age 20-30)
For 10 years, one man asked the question that would split history: “Why does evil exist?”
At age 20, Zarathustra left everything—family, comfort, security—and wandered the mountains and deserts of eastern Iran. Living in caves, contemplating the stars, observing the sacred fire. He was searching for the one truth that could explain the universe. For an entire decade, he found nothing but silence. Then came the vision.

EPISODE 4: The Vision That Changed Everything
The Divine Revelation (Age 30)
One morning by a river, Zarathustra received the idea that would become Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Western ethics.
Fetching water at dawn, he encountered Vohu Mana (“Good Mind”), who opened a portal to Ahura Mazda’s presence. In that moment, Zarathustra received seven revolutionary truths:
There is ONE God
Good and Evil are separate forces
You are FREE to choose
Your choices determine your fate
Heaven and Hell are real
There will be a Final Judgment
Good will ultimately triumph
No one had ever said “you choose” before. This was the birth of free will, personal responsibility, and ethical philosophy.

EPISODE 5: Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds
The Teaching Begins (Age 30-42)
Three words that would build civilization: Good thoughts, good words, good deeds.
Zarathustra returned from the wilderness with the most dangerous message in history: You don’t need priests. You don’t need sacrifices. You need ethics.
The teaching was simple:
Think good (Humata)
Speak good (Hukhta)
Do good (Hvarshta)
For 12 years, he preached this revolutionary doctrine. For 12 years, the world tried to kill him for it.

EPISODE 6: The Exile
Rejection & Persecution (Age 30-42)
For 12 years, Zarathustra preached the most important idea in human history. His own family wanted him dead.
The priests of the old religion saw the threat immediately. If people could reach God through ethics rather than ritual sacrifice, priests would lose power—and profit. They tried to assassinate him. His family abandoned him. He wandered homeless, hunted, alone.
In the Gathas (his own words), he cries out:
“To what land to turn? Whither shall I go? Kinsman and friend turn from me; none is found to conciliate, to give to me. This I know, Ahuramazda, why I am powerless: Because my flocks are diminished and my followers are few. Therefore I cry to Thee: Lord, look upon it.”
Every revolutionary walks this path. Zarathustra walked it for 12 years.

EPISODE 7: The King’s Conversion
Finding Refuge at Last (Age 42)
For 12 years, Zarathustra had no power. Then one king believed. Within a decade, an empire followed.
At age 42, nearly broken, Zarathustra arrived at the court of King Vishtaspa in Bactria. The court priests immediately attacked his teaching. A great theological debate began—33 questions designed to destroy him. Zarathustra answered every one. Then came the miracle: the king’s paralyzed horse, instantly healed.
King Vishtaspa converted. Queen Hutaōsa converted. The royal court followed. Zoroastrianism became the state religion. Within a generation, it would become the faith of the Persian Empire—the largest empire the world had ever seen.
One king’s belief changed everything.

EPISODE 8: The Prophet at Court
Teaching & Legacy Building (Age 42-77)
Zarathustra spent 12 years being rejected and 35 years building the structures that would preserve his vision for millennia.
For 35 years at King Vishtaspa’s court, Zarathustra:
Composed the Gathas (his direct teachings in verse)
Established the five daily prayers (Gah system)
Built fire temples across the kingdom
Trained the Magi (Zoroastrian priests)
Created initiation ceremonies
Married, had children, lived as both prophet and family man
He understood something crucial: revolutionary ideas need institutions to survive. Without structure, truth dies with the teacher. With structure, it outlives empires.
And it did. His ideas are practiced by 4.3 billion people today.

EPISODE 9: The Sacred Fire & The Assassin
The Final Day (Age 77)
Whether Zarathustra died by sword or by age, his death changed nothing. His ideas were already immortal.
The traditional account: At age 77, while tending the sacred fire in the temple at Balkh, a Turanian warrior named Turbaratus burst in during an invasion and murdered Zarathustra at the altar. As he died, his prayer rosary miraculously killed the assassin.
The mystery: His death is never mentioned in the Avesta (Zoroastrian scripture). Where was he buried? Who performed his funeral rites? Some say he died peacefully. Others claim he ascended, leaving only his seed preserved in a sacred lake—to be born again as three future saviors who will oversee the final triumph of good.
The truth? It doesn’t matter.
By age 77, Zarathustra’s ideas had spread across an empire. The fire he lit would burn for millennia. You can kill a prophet, but you cannot kill an idea whose time has come.

EPISODE 10: The Theft of Light
How Zarathustra’s Ideas Were Stolen & Rebranded (539 BCE – Present)
The greatest theft in history isn’t material. It’s the theft of credit for the most important ideas humanity ever received.
Watch the systematic appropriation unfold:
Phase 1: Judaism adopts Zarathustra’s concepts during the Babylonian Exile (586-539 BCE) but hides the source
Phase 2: Christianity inherits these concepts, believing they’re “Jewish” in origin, never knowing they’re Persian
Phase 3: Islam receives them through Judeo-Christian tradition, unaware of the original source
Phase 4: Greek philosophy learns from Zoroastrian Magi, then gets credited with “inventing” Western thought
Phase 5: Western scholarship erases Persia entirely, giving credit to Greeks and Jews
Phase 6: Modern world sanctions Iran as “evil” while practicing Iranian wisdom
The Evidence:
Timeline: Concepts appear AFTER Persian contact, not before
Linguistics: Terms borrowed from Avestan/Persian
Rituals: Five daily prayers, initiation rites, sacred meals—all Zoroastrian first
Theology: Point-by-point matches between Zarathustra’s teaching and later religions
The Result:
4.3 billion people practice his beliefs
100,000-200,000 Zoroastrians remain
The source is forgotten
Iran is demonized
The theft is complete
But the fire never went out.

THE MODERN IRONY
They Practice His Wisdom While Demonizing His Homeland
Christians pray five times daily? No—but Muslims do. Zarathustra invented the five daily prayers (Gah system) in 1700 BCE.
Christians believe in heaven and hell? Yes. Zarathustra invented them in 1700 BCE.
Christians believe Satan is real? Yes. Zarathustra created Angra Mainyu (the first devil) in 1700 BCE.
Christians believe in resurrection and final judgment? Yes. Zarathustra taught this in 1700 BCE.
And yet:
Iran is sanctioned
Zoroastrians are nearly extinct
Western textbooks credit Moses, Jesus, Socrates, Plato
The source is erased
WHY IT MATTERS
Because Truth Deserves Acknowledgment
Imagine if:
Every church mentioned Zarathustra before reading scripture
Every philosophy class started with “The Persians invented this”
Every history book said “Modern ethics began in Iran in 1700 BCE”
Every person who believes in heaven and hell knew they were honoring a Persian prophet
That’s not a fantasy. That’s historical fact.
The only reason it doesn’t happen? Systematic erasure.
THE INVITATION
Know the Name. Honor the Source.
This 10-part series walks through the life of the man who gave humanity:
The concept of moral choice
The idea of one God
The belief in heaven and hell
The hope for final justice
The principle of personal responsibility
Every time you choose between good and evil → That’s Zarathustra
Every time you believe in heaven or hell → That’s Zarathustra
Every time you hope for justice in the end → That’s Zarathustra
Every time you value individual freedom → That’s Zarathustra
Every time you light a candle in prayer → That’s Zarathustra

ABOUT THIS SERIES
This is part of mazda.aeuua.com/'s mission to document the systematic theft of Persian contributions to human civilization.
The Mazda Legacy – When the West honored Ahura Mazda (then forgot him)
The fire never went out.
They just stopped saying who lit it.
BEGIN: EPISODE 1 – THE BIRTH OF LIGHT →
“Zarathustra was the first to see in the struggle of good and evil the true driving-wheel in the machinery of things… Zarathustra created the disastrous error that is morality.” — Friedrich Nietzsche
Even while rejecting it, Nietzsche knew who invented ethics.
Zarathustra Spitama (c. 1700-1500 BCE) was the first philosopher in human history, the founder of monotheism, and the inventor of moral choice. Born laughing in ancient Bactria (modern Afghanistan/Tajikistan), he spent 10 years wandering in search of truth, received divine revelation at age 30, was rejected and exiled by his own people, found refuge with King Vishtaspa at age 42, established the first monotheistic religion, and was murdered at age 77 while tending the sacred fire.
His revolutionary concepts—one God, free will, heaven and hell, Satan as adversary, resurrection, final judgment, linear time, personal moral responsibility—would be adopted by Judaism (post-Exile, 539 BCE), Christianity, Islam, and Greek philosophy, becoming the foundation of Western civilization.
4.3 billion people practice beliefs invented by Zarathustra.
Almost none of them know his name.
This is the systematic theft of credit for the most important ideas humanity ever received.

Gathas composed/recorded
Training new priests (Magi)
Spreading the faith through the kingdom
Key Themes:
The power of royal patronage (Constantine moment)
Why one king’s belief changes everything
The institutionalization of revolutionary ideas
Building structures to preserve truth
The Thesis:
“For 12 years, Zarathustra had no power. Then one king believed. Within a decade, an empire followed. That’s how truth spreads: one leader at a time.”

Establishing ritual practices
Family life:
Three wives (in sequence)
Last wife: Hvovi (“Good Cattle”), daughter of the prime minister
Daughter Pouruchista (“Full of Wisdom”) – married to the prime minister
Other children: Isat Vastar, Uruvat-Nara, Hvare Ciϑra
The Daily Life:
Morning prayers at sunrise
Tending the sacred fires
Teaching in the court
Composing hymns
Debating with visiting scholars
Building the Zoroastrian community

Marriage rites
Funeral practices
The priesthood (Magi) trained
The Spreading Faith:
Zoroastrianism spreads across eastern Iran
Fire temples established in multiple cities
Converts from various tribes
The religion becomes Persian identity
Key Themes:
The prophet as institution-builder
How revolutionary ideas become traditions
The importance of ritual in preserving truth
Training the next generation
The Thesis:
“Zarathustra spent 12 years being rejected and 35 years building the structures that would preserve his vision for millennia. Legacy requires both truth and tradition.”
Western scholarship credits Greeks and Jews, erases Persia
Modern result:
4.3 billion practice Zarathustra’s beliefs
Only 100,000-200,000 Zoroastrians remain
Iran sanctioned as “evil”
The source is forgotten
THE IRONY:
Cyrus the Great (Zoroastrian) = called “Messiah” in Isaiah 45:1
The Magi (Zoroastrian priests) = visit Jesus at birth
Modern Christians/Muslims = demonize Iran while practicing Persian theology
THE EVIDENCE:
Timeline – Concepts appear AFTER Persian contact, not before
Linguistics – Terms borrowed from Avestan/Persian
Ritual parallels – Five daily prayers, initiation rites, sacred meals
Theological concepts – Point-by-point matches
Key Themes:
How cultural theft happens (not conspiracy, just appropriation)
Why sources are erased (to legitimize the new version)
The pattern: Adopt → Adapt → Attribute to yourself → Attack the source
Modern ignorance as the final stage of theft
The Thesis:
“Zarathustra gave humanity its most important ideas. Judaism took them and hid the source. Christianity inherited them and forgot the source. Islam received them and didn’t know the source. The West taught them and erased the source. Now, 3,700 years later, the greatest mind in human history is unknown to those who live by his wisdom.”
If Zarathustra’s ideas are practiced by half of humanity:
Why don’t they know his name?
Why is Iran demonized as “evil”?
Why are Zoroastrians nearly extinct (100,000-200,000 remain)?
Why do textbooks credit Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, Socrates, Plato?
The Answer:
Because acknowledging Zarathustra means acknowledging Persia.
And acknowledging Persia means admitting that:
The West didn’t invent philosophy (Persia did)
The Abrahamic religions didn’t invent monotheism (Persia did)
“Judeo-Christian values” are actually Persian values
Modern civilization owes its ethical foundation to Iran
So the source is erased.
But the fire still burns.
In every church, every mosque, every synagogue. In every choice between good and evil. In every belief in heaven and hell. In every hope for final justice. In every prayer at dawn.
The fire Zarathustra lit 3,700 years ago never went out.
They just stopped saying who lit it.
EPILOGUE: “Finding Zarathustra Today”
Where His Presence Remains:
The Parsis of India – Carrying the torch in Mumbai, preserving the faith
Iranian Zoroastrians – Keeping fire temples alive in Yazd and Tehran
The Gathas – His own words, still chanted in Avestan
Fire Temples – Still burning across Iran and India
The Navjote Ceremony – Still initiating children at age 7-15
The Name “Mazda” – On lightbulbs (1909-1945) and cars (1931-present)
Freddie Mercury – His music carrying Zoroastrian work ethic
Every prayer at dawn, noon, afternoon, dusk, and midnight

Every time you:
Choose between good and evil → Thank Zarathustra
Believe in heaven or hell → Thank Zarathustra
Hope for final justice → Thank Zarathustra
Value individual freedom → Thank Zarathustra
Light a candle in prayer → Thank Zarathustra
The man who laughed at birth gave you the ideas you live by.
The least you can do is know his name.
SERIES FORMAT NOTES:
Each Episode Should Include:
Opening Quote – From the Gathas or about Zarathustra
The Story – Narrative of that life phase
The Evidence – Historical/textual support
The Theft – How this concept was later stolen
The Modern Connection – Why it matters today
Closing Image – Powerful visual/metaphor

Goal: Make Zarathustra as famous as he deserves to be.
“Zarathustra was the first to see in the struggle of good and evil the true driving-wheel in the machinery of things… Zarathustra created the disastrous error that is morality: thus he must also be the first to acknowledge the mistake.” — Friedrich Nietzsche, acknowledging the inventor of morality
Even while rejecting it, Nietzsche knew who invented ethics.
The First Philosopher. The First Monotheist. The First to Say “You Choose.”
The Lie We’re Taught
What Every Student Learns:
Moses invented monotheism (c. 1300 BCE)
Greek philosophers invented ethics and morality (600-400 BCE)
Jesus invented personal salvation through choice (c. 30 CE)
Muhammad perfected monotheistic revelation (c. 610 CE)
The Forgotten Truth:
Zarathustra lived between 1800-1700 BCE—making him the first philosopher in history, centuries before Moses, over a millennium before Socrates, and 1,800 years before Jesus.
He didn’t just influence these figures.
He invented the concepts they would later claim as their own.
Who Was Zarathustra?
The Birth That Shook the World
According to tradition, Zarathustra laughed uproariously when he was born—the only prophet in history to greet existence with joy rather than tears.
The supreme being Ahura Mazda sent the Immortal Saint Vohumano (“Virtuous Thought”) to enter the infant’s soul, and Zarathustra, illumined with a bright light, laughed so loudly that the whole neighborhood heard.
Not a cry. A laugh.
The first sound of the man who would change human consciousness forever was defiant joy.
The Restless Seeker
As a child, Zarathustra developed a profound curiosity for everything in nature and he often questioned life. He was an intelligent child who was very observant and wanted to have clear cut answers to every question that came to his mind.
He challenged priests. He questioned polytheism. He refused easy answers.
When Zarathustra turned 20 years old, he decided to leave his birthplace and travel to distant places in search of the Truth. He spent years philosophizing in the wilderness of the various places he visited.
For ten years, he wandered the mountains and deserts of eastern Iran (modern Afghanistan/Tajikistan), seeking the answer to one question:
“Why does evil exist?”
The Vision That Changed Everything
Age 30: The Moment of Revelation
One early morning, he went to the river to bring water back to his residence. As he stepped into the water, a divine entity named Vohu Mana meaning The Good Mind suddenly appeared to him. Vohu Mana then opened a portal to the bright divine light of God named Ahura Mazda, meaning The Wise Spirit.
In that vision, Zarathustra received the most revolutionary idea in human history:
There is One God. And you get to choose.
The Three Concepts That Changed Humanity:
Monotheism – One supreme god, the “wise lord” Ahura Mazda, who had created the world, mankind and all good things in it through his holy spirit, Spenta Mainyu
Dualism – The world was divided into the dominions of the good and of the evil. Between these each individual is bound to decide
Free Will – Zarathustra emphasized the freedom of the individual to choose right or wrong and individual responsibility for one’s deeds. This personal choice to accept aša and shun druj is one’s own decision and not a dictate of Ahura Mazda
This was unheard of in 1700 BCE.
Before Zarathustra:
Gods controlled everything
Humans were puppets
Morality was obedience to tribal gods
No personal responsibility
After Zarathustra:
Humans choose their destiny
Good and evil are individual decisions
Morality is personal responsibility
Your choices determine heaven or hell
The Three Words That Built Civilization
“Good Thoughts. Good Words. Good Deeds.”
The Persian words goftare nik, pendare nik, kerdare nik meaning good words, good thoughts, good deeds became the main keystones of the religion called Zoroastrianism.
That’s it. The entire moral framework of Western civilization in nine words.
Not “obey the gods.”Not “sacrifice to appease.”Not “follow the rules or be punished.”
But: Think good. Speak good. Do good.
For Zoroaster, by thinking good thoughts, saying good words, and doing good deeds (e.g. assisting the needy, doing good works, or conducting good rituals) one increases aša in the world and in themselves, celebrating the divine order, and coming a step closer on the everlasting road to Frashokereti.
Personal ethics.Individual responsibility.Moral choice as the path to salvation.
Sound familiar?
It should. Because every major religion that came after stole this framework.
What Zarathustra Actually Invented
1. The First Monotheism in History
Zarathustra founded the religion of Zoroastrianism, the first monotheistic religion in the world, whose precepts would come to influence later faiths.
Before Zarathustra: Polytheistic chaos—thousands of gods demanding blood sacrifice.
After Zarathustra: One wise creator. One moral law. One choice.
2. The Concept of Heaven and Hell
Zarathustra invented the afterlife based on moral choice.
Through their good deeds, righteous persons (ashavan) earn an everlasting reward, namely integrity and immortality. Those who opt for the Lie (Druj) are condemned by their own conscience as well as by the judgment of the Wise Lord and must expect to continue in the most miserable form of existence, one more or less corresponding to the Christian concept of hell.
Judaism before the Babylonian Exile (586 BCE)? No heaven. No hell. No afterlife judgment.
After 70 years under Persian Zoroastrian rule? Suddenly: Resurrection. Final judgment. Heaven for the righteous. Hell for the wicked.
Coincidence?
3. Satan as the Adversary
The Wise Lord has an opponent, Angra Mainyu, or Ahriman (the destructive spirit), who embodies the principle of evil; his followers, having freely chosen him, also are evil.
Before Zarathustra: No cosmic force of evil.
After Zarathustra: Angra Mainyu (Ahriman) = the first “devil” in history.
Judaism adopts this concept during the Exile → Christianity turns it into Satan → Islam inherits the same framework.
All from Zarathustra’s vision in 1700 BCE.
4. Linear Time and the End of History
Eventually the victory of righteousness will indeed happen in a great final event called Frasho-kereti (Making Wonderful), where Angra Mainyu and his minions will be utterly destroyed in a cataclysmic battle and the world restored to its original perfection.
Before Zarathustra: Cyclical time. History repeats endlessly.
After Zarathustra: History moves toward a final goal—the triumph of good over evil.
This became:
Judaism’s Messianic Age
Christianity’s Second Coming
Islam’s Day of Judgment
The Western concept of “progress”
Linear time. Historical purpose. Inevitable victory of good.
All Zarathustra. 1700 BCE.
5. Personal Moral Responsibility
This personal choice to accept aša and shun druj is one’s own decision and not a dictate of Ahura Mazda.
This is revolutionary.
God doesn’t force you. Evil doesn’t control you. You decide.
From their freedom of decision it follows that human beings are finally responsible for their fates.
Every Western concept of individual rights traces back to this moment: a Persian priest standing in a river, receiving the vision that humans are free to choose.
6. The Resurrection of the Dead
Three days after one’s death, the urvan was reunited with the fravashi and traveled to the Chinvat Bridge which spanned the abyss between the world of the living and that of the dead where they would be met by the two dogs who guarded it.
The bridge. The judgment. The resurrection.
All Zoroastrian. All 1700 BCE.
Christianity claims Jesus invented resurrection?
Zarathustra taught it 1,700 years earlier.
7. The First Philosopher
It is known as history’s oldest monotheistic religion and was founded by a man who became a prophet and who also was the first philosopher in history.
Not Socrates. Not Plato. Not Aristotle.
Zarathustra.
The encyclopedia Natural History (Pliny) claims that Zoroastrians later educated the Greeks who, starting with Pythagoras, used a similar term, philosophy, or “love of wisdom” to describe the search for ultimate truth.
The Greeks learned from Zarathustra’s followers—then claimed credit for inventing philosophy.
The Exile That Spread the Truth (While Hiding the Source)
How Persian Wisdom Became “Jewish” Theology
The Timeline:
586 BCE: Babylonians conquer Jerusalem, exile Jews to Babylon
539 BCE: Cyrus the Great (Zoroastrian) conquers Babylon, frees the Jews
70 years under Persian rule and Zoroastrian influence
What Judaism Looked Like BEFORE the Exile:
No Satan as adversary (just “the accuser” in God’s court)
No angels with names
No resurrection of the dead
No heaven or hell
No final judgment
No messiah as cosmic savior
No apocalypse
What Judaism Looked Like AFTER the Exile:
Satan as the embodiment of evil ✓
Named angels (Michael, Gabriel, Raphael) ✓
Resurrection of the dead ✓
Heaven (Gan Eden) and Hell (Gehenna) ✓
Final judgment of all souls ✓
Messiah as world redeemer ✓
Apocalyptic end times ✓
Every. Single. One. = Zoroastrian.
And then:
Christianity inherits these concepts from Judaism
Islam inherits them from both Judaism and Christianity
4.3 billion people now practice theology invented by Zarathustra
While Iran—his homeland—is sanctioned as “evil.”
The Recognition Zarathustra Received (Then Lost)
The Greeks Knew
The ancient Greeks saw in Zoroastrianism the archetype of the dualistic view of the world and human destiny. Zarathushtra was supposed to have instructed Pythagoras in Babylon and to have inspired the Chaldean doctrines of astrology and magic.
Pythagoras—the “father of Western philosophy”—was taught by Zoroastrian Magi.
Nietzsche Knew
Nietzsche explained the choice of the name in his autobiographical work Ecce Homo: “Zarathustra was the first to see in the struggle of good and evil the true driving-wheel in the machinery of things […] Zarathustra created the disastrous error that is morality: thus he must also be the first to acknowledge the mistake”.
Even while rejecting morality, Nietzsche acknowledged: Zarathustra invented it.
Modern Scholarship Knows
It is likely that Zoroastrianism influenced the development of Judaism and the birth of Christianity.
Zoroaster is credited with authorship of the Gathas as well as the Yasna Haptanghaiti, a series of hymns composed in Old Avestan that cover the core of Zoroastrian thinking.
Zoroaster is ranked #93 on Michael H. Hart’s list of the most influential figures in history.
The evidence is there. The scholars know. The timeline is undeniable.
But the credit has been systematically erased.
The Man Behind the Vision
The Struggle
This new teaching caused a conflict between Zarathustra and the priests of the god Mithra. The Enemy has ever fought with me […] he is most powerful.
He was rejected. Exiled. Hunted.
“To what land to turn? Whither shall I go? Kinsman and friend turn from me; none is found, to conciliate, to give to me; still less the false-believing chiefs of the land. This I know, Ahuramazda, why I am powerless: because my flocks are diminished and my followers are few. Therefore I cry to Thee: Lord, look upon it”.
His own family abandoned him.
He wandered in exile, preaching a message the world wasn’t ready for:
You are free. You choose. You are responsible.
The Triumph
Zarathustra initially met with harsh resistance to his message until he converted the king Vishtaspa, who then led his people to the new faith.
One king believed. And from that belief, an empire rose.
The Persian Empire—the largest the world had ever seen—was built on Zarathustra’s vision.
Why This Matters
The Most Influential Person You’ve Never Heard Of
Zarathustra gave humanity:
Monotheism (1700 BCE)
Free will and moral choice
Heaven and hell
Resurrection and judgment
Satan/the devil concept
Linear time and historical purpose
The philosophy of ethics
Individual responsibility
“Good thoughts, good words, good deeds”
Every major religion that came after:
Judaism (adopted post-Exile, 539 BCE+)
Christianity (built on Jewish-Zoroastrian framework)
Islam (inherited the same concepts)
4.3 billion people practice beliefs invented by Zarathustra.
And Almost None of Them Know His Name
Why?
Because acknowledging the source means acknowledging the debt.
If Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all trace their core concepts to a Persian prophet—then the entire narrative of “Abrahamic” religions collapses.
If the Greeks learned philosophy from Zoroastrian Magi—then the myth of “Western” intellectual origins falls apart.
If the greatest moral revolution in human history happened in Iran in 1700 BCE—then modern sanctions, demonization, and erasure of Persian civilization become untenable.
So the source is forgotten.
The light remains. The fire still burns. But the name is erased.
The Legacy
This change from polytheism to monotheism was a paradigm shift in human thought. For one thing, it provided a sense of union and brotherhood among all humans. Zarathustra detached the forces of nature and their associated deities from the violence and brutality committed in their names.
One God.One humanity.One choice.
A number of philosophers and historians of science (Hooykaas, Jaki, and more recently Schellenberg) have noted that science has rapidly progressed in periods or cultures in which the idea of a single wise God is prevalent.
He left it having changed human consciousness forever.
He invented:
The concept of moral choice
The idea of personal responsibility
The belief in one wise creator
The hope of final redemption
And the world forgot him.
But the ideas didn’t die.
They were stolen, rebranded, spread across continents, adopted by billions.
Every time someone says “choose good over evil”—that’s Zarathustra.Every time someone believes in heaven and hell—that’s Zarathustra.Every time someone takes personal responsibility for their actions—that’s Zarathustra.
The greatest theft in history isn’t material.
It’s the theft of credit for the most important ideas humanity ever received.
The Question
UNESCO declared 2002-2003 the third millennium since Zoroaster’s birth. This gave rise to an extraordinary show of support by Zoroastrian organizations worldwide, resulting in hundreds of large and small commemorative events to celebrate the declared anniversary from diverse locations such as Dushanbe, Tehran, Mumbai, New York, and Vancouver.
Why do so few people know?
Why is the man who invented morality, monotheism, and free will—the first philosopher in human history—unknown to billions who practice his ideas?
Because to acknowledge Zarathustra is to acknowledge Persia.
And to acknowledge Persia’s contribution to human consciousness is to shatter the narrative that “Western civilization” or “Abrahamic traditions” arose independently.
The fire never went out.
They just stopped saying who lit it.
Zarathustra: 1700 BCEFirst philosopher. First monotheist. First to say “You choose.”
The man who invented morality. And had it stolen 4,000 years later.

How Light Bulbs, Cars, and Icons Carried the Name of the Zoroastrian God—Then Quietly Erased It
The Lie We’re Taught
What Every Student Learns: “Edison invented the light bulb. The Mazda Motor Company is a Japanese brand named after its founder.”
Modern people drive Mazdas and once illuminated their homes with GE Mazda bulbs—never knowing they were invoking the name of Ahura Mazda, the Zoroastrian God of Light and Wisdom.
The Truth Hidden in Plain Sight
The GE Mazda Bulb (1909-1945)
In 1909, General Electric deliberately named their revolutionary tungsten filament bulb “Mazda”—a direct reference to Ahura Mazda, the Zoroastrian god of light, intelligence, and wisdom.
This wasn’t accidental.
The search results confirm: GE chose the name “due to its association with Ahura Mazda, the transcendental and universal God of Zoroastrianism, whose name means light of wisdom in the Avestan language.”
The Symbolism Was Perfect:
Edison’s invention = bringing light into darkness
Ahura Mazda = God of Light and Wisdom
The parallel was explicit: technological enlightenment named after Zoroastrian divine enlightenment
For 36 Years (1909-1945):
Millions of American homes were lit by bulbs bearing the name of the Persian god
The connection between light, wisdom, and Ahura Mazda was mainstream knowledge
GE’s educated executives and marketers knew exactly what they were referencing
The Mazda Motor Company (1931-Present)
Twenty-two years after GE’s Mazda bulb, Japanese founder Jujiro Matsuda launched his automobile company with the same name.
The Official Explanation: “Mazda comes from Ahura Mazda, the god of harmony, intelligence and wisdom from the earliest civilization in West Asia. Key members of Toyo Kogyo interpreted Mazda as a symbol of the beginning of the East and the West civilization, but also a symbol of the automotive civilization and culture.”
The Dual Meaning: The name worked perfectly because:
Ahura Mazda = god of wisdom and light (Zoroastrian)
Matsuda = the founder’s surname (sounds like “Mazda” in Japanese)
But the Zoroastrian Connection Was Primary.
Other proposed names for the company were “Sumera-Go” (god) and “Tenshi-Go” (angel)—revealing Matsuda’s “strong interest in human faith.”
He didn’t choose just any deity. He chose the Persian god of light, wisdom, and cosmic order.
What This Proves
1. Western Industrial Leaders Explicitly Honored Zoroastrian Symbolism
This wasn’t hidden. This wasn’t obscure. The name “Mazda” was on:
Millions of light bulbs in American homes (1909-1945)
Millions of cars worldwide (1931-present)
Corporate branding by two major international companies
2. “Light = Enlightenment” Was Understood as Fundamentally Zoroastrian
When Edison’s team needed a name for their revolutionary light source, they didn’t choose:
Apollo (Greek god of light)
Lucifer (Latin “light-bearer”)
Sol (Roman sun god)
They chose Mazda—the Persian god.
Why? Because the connection between light and wisdom was recognized as uniquely and powerfully Zoroastrian.
3. This Acknowledgment Was Quietly Erased
GE Discontinued “Mazda” in 1945
Official reason: Patents expired, technology evolved.
But wait:
They kept renewing the trademark until 1990 (45 more years!)
If it was just “obsolete,” why maintain the trademark for nearly half a century?
The Timing:
1945: End of WWII
Holocaust revealed to the world
Nuremberg Trials beginning
Cultural moment of heightened religious/ethnic sensitivity
Whether through corporate rebranding, post-Holocaust sensitivity, or other pressures—the Zoroastrian name disappeared from American commerce.
4. Modern Amnesia
How many people today know:
Their grandparents’ light bulbs were named after Ahura Mazda?
Every Mazda car carries the name of the Zoroastrian god?
For 36 years, Americans honored the Persian god of light every time they turned on a lamp?
Another example of: Persian contribution → Mainstream adoption → Forgotten source
The Parallel: Freddie Mercury
While corporations quietly dropped Zoroastrian references, one man made the faith globally visible—though most fans never knew.
Freddie Mercury (born Farrokh Bulsara):
Raised in a devout Zoroastrian Parsi family
Underwent the sacred Navjote ceremony at age 8
Given the sudreh (white shirt) and kusti (sacred cord)
Funeral conducted entirely in Zoroastrian rites
His sister Kashmira Cooke explained: “What his Zoroastrian faith gave him was to work hard, to persevere, and to follow your dreams.”
The Core Zoroastrian Principle: “Good thoughts, good words, good deeds”
This wasn’t just Freddie’s heritage—it was the driving philosophy behind one of history’s greatest performers.
And yet: Billions sang “We Are The Champions” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” without knowing the faith that shaped their creator.
Tesla and the Philosophy of Light
While no direct evidence links Nikola Tesla to Zoroastrian worship, his entire worldview mirrors Zoroastrian cosmology:
Tesla’s Philosophy:
“Peace can only come as a natural consequence of universal enlightenment”
Light as both physical and metaphysical reality
Electricity as transformative divine power
“If your hate could be turned into electricity, it would light up the whole world”
Zoroastrian Parallels:
Ahura Mazda = God of Light and Wisdom
Fire/light as sacred manifestation of truth
Cosmic battle between light (truth) and darkness (deceit)
Enlightenment as the path to cosmic order (Asha)
Tesla worked with electricity—the harnessing of light itself. Whether he studied Zoroastrianism directly or absorbed its philosophy through Western culture, the alignment is undeniable.
The Pattern Continues
Three Major Examples:
1. GE Mazda Bulb (1909-1945)
Explicit Zoroastrian naming
36 years of mainstream use
Discontinued 1945, forgotten by history
2. Mazda Motor Company (1931-Present)
Named after Ahura Mazda
Millions drive them daily
Almost no one knows the origin
3. Freddie Mercury (1946-1991)
Zoroastrian Parsi
300+ million Queen albums sold worldwide
Faith rarely mentioned in his legacy
Why It Matters
For 36 years, every American home that turned on a light invoked Ahura Mazda.
Not in prayer. Not in ritual. But in the everyday act of bringing light into darkness.
GE’s executives, educated in classical knowledge, knew what they were doing. They recognized that the god who represented light, wisdom, and cosmic truth was the perfect symbol for technological enlightenment.
Then in 1945—the year the world confronted the Holocaust and religious tensions reached a peak—the name quietly disappeared.
The bulbs still worked. The light still shone. But Ahura Mazda’s name was erased from the devices that carried it into millions of homes.
Today:
Drive a Mazda → unknowingly honor Ahura Mazda
Listen to Queen → unknowingly celebrate Zoroastrian work ethic
Turn on electricity → unknowingly invoke the god of light
The Persian god of wisdom lit the modern world.
Then we forgot him.
The Question
If Western civilization honored Ahura Mazda enough to name their greatest inventions after him—light bulbs, automobiles, the harnessing of electricity itself—why is Zoroastrianism portrayed as a dead or irrelevant religion?
Why are the Persians sanctioned as “evil” when the West built its electrical age on devices bearing their god’s name?
The answer is simple:
Acknowledge the source, and you acknowledge the debt.
Erase the source, and you can claim the light as your own.
The fire never went out. They were literally selling Mazda’s light to millions of homes.
How Madame Blavatsky Tried To Restore The Magi’s “Ancient Wisdom” But Hid Its Persian Source
THE CONFESSION IN HER OWN WORDS
What Blavatsky Actually Said
“Perhaps the most important contribution that H.P. Blavatsky made to the intellectual and spiritual discourse of the late nineteenth century was her emphasis on a single ‘Wisdom-Religion’ found in various cultures and religious traditions”
She called it “the Ancient Wisdom.”
She claimed it came from “Masters” or “Mahatmas.”
But where were these Masters from?
“According to her later claims, in 1849 she embarked on a series of world travels, visiting Europe, the Americas, and India. She also claimed that during this period she encountered a group of spiritual adepts, the ‘Masters of the Ancient Wisdom,’ who sent her to Shigatse, Tibet“
Tibet. Always Tibet.
Never Persia.
But the evidence says otherwise.
THE PERSIAN PARSI CONNECTION
When Blavatsky Arrived in India
“In July 1879, Blavatsky and Olcott began work on a monthly magazine, The Theosophist… Blavatsky and Olcott were then invited to Ceylon by Buddhist monks. There they officially converted to Buddhism”
Where did they land?
Bombay (Mumbai) – center of the Parsi (Zoroastrian) community in India.
What Actually Happened
“The third Persian edition of Javidan Khirad was printed in 1876 in Bombay by Maneckji Limji Hataria (1813–90), an Indian Parsi, and he presented a copy of this edition to Mme. Blavatsky and Colonel Olcott upon their arrival in Bombay“
A Parsi gave her a Persian Zoroastrian text immediately upon arrival.
“Blavatsky launched The Theosophist magazine in Bombay (which later moved to Adyar). Thanks to Maneckji Hataria, Blavatsky learned about this book and wrote a review in the April 1882 issue of The Theosophist“
She reviewed Zoroastrian texts in her own magazine.
The Parsi Theosophists
“When Helena Petrovna Blavatsky tried to bring about a spiritual awakening… based on the esoteric ancient wisdom contained in the Sanskrit Hindu Aryan Scriptures and from the teachings of her spiritual Masters, directly communicated to her… the esoteric awareness that came through the Theosophical Society naturally attracted many English-speaking educated Parsis“
“Many prominent Parsis of the end of the 19th century and early 20th century in British India were the mainsprings of the Theosophical Society such as Jamshedji Nusserwanji Mehta — the 12 times Mayor and uncrowned ‘King of Karachi’ in Bombay Presidency”
Parsis (Zoroastrians) were CENTRAL to the Theosophical Society.
Because they recognized their own tradition.
WHAT SHE ACTUALLY TAUGHT (ALL ZOROASTRIAN)
1. The Masters/Mahatmas = The Magi
“Blavatsky claimed that these Theosophical doctrines were not her own invention, but had been received from a brotherhood of secretive spiritual adepts whom she referred to as the ‘Masters‘ or ‘Mahatmas‘”
What are “Mahatmas”?
“According to Blavatsky, A Mahatma is a personage who, by special training and education, has evolved those higher faculties and has attained that spiritual knowledge“
This is exactly what the Zoroastrian Magi were:
Specially trained priests
Evolved spiritual knowledge
Astronomical/mathematical expertise
Guardians of ancient wisdom
Mahatmas = Magi
2. The “Ancient Wisdom” = Zoroastrian Knowledge
“Perhaps the most important contribution that H.P. Blavatsky made… was her emphasis on a single ‘Wisdom-Religion‘ found in various cultures and religious traditions. Indeed the word theosophy in her view referred to this ‘Wisdom-Religion’”
What was this “Wisdom-Religion”?
We know she:
Received Zoroastrian texts from Parsis immediately
Reviewed them in her magazine
Had Parsis as core Theosophical Society members
Wrote extensively on Zoroastrianism
The “Ancient Wisdom” = Zoroastrian wisdom.
3. Light and Darkness Dualism
Theosophy teaches:
Cosmic battle between light and darkness
Spiritual evolution toward light
Overcoming darkness/ignorance
Zoroastrian origin:
“In exoteric Zoroastrianism they are thought of as powers of Good and Evil, but in reality they merely signify Spirit and Matter, Life and Form, Light and Darkness“
Ahura Mazda (infinite light) vs. Angra Mainyu (darkness)
Blavatsky’s core teaching = Zoroastrian dualism.
4. Seven Principles/Seven Planes
Theosophy teaches:
Seven planes of existence
Seven principles of human constitution
Sevenfold cosmic structure
Zoroastrian origin:
Seven Amesha Spentas (Holy Immortals):
Vohu Manah (Good Mind)
Asha Vahishta (Best Truth)
Khshathra Vairya (Desirable Dominion)
Spenta Armaiti (Holy Devotion)
Haurvatat (Wholeness)
Ameretat (Immortality)
(Spenta Mainyu – Holy Spirit)
Blavatsky’s sevenfold system = Zoroastrian Amesha Spentas structure.
5. Reincarnation and Karma
Theosophy emphasizes:
Cycles of rebirth
Karma (cause and effect)
Spiritual evolution through lifetimes
While Buddhism has reincarnation, the specific Theosophical formulation matches Zoroastrian eschatology:
“The Great White Brotherhood, in belief systems akin to Theosophy, are said to be supernatural beings of great power who spread spiritual teachings through selected humans“
This is the structure of the Magi:
Brotherhood of initiated priests
Possessing advanced knowledge
Teaching selected students
Preserving ancient wisdom
The “Great White Brotherhood” = The order of Zoroastrian Magi.
7. Individual Spiritual Evolution
Theosophy teaches:
Each soul must choose spiritual development
Individual responsibility for growth
Free will in spiritual path
Zoroastrian origin:
“Ahura Mazda represents humanity’s ultimate choice of free will. Humans could embrace the pure, righteous, and moral teachings of Ahura Mazda or walk the path of darkness”
Blavatsky’s emphasis on individual choice = Zoroastrian free will doctrine.
THE “TIBETAN” COVER STORY
Why Tibet, Not Persia?
Blavatsky claimed her Masters were in Tibet.
But the evidence points to Persian/Zoroastrian sources.
Why the misdirection?
Historical Context (1870s-1890s):
British control of India
Tensions with Persia/Qajar Dynasty
Tibet = mysterious, exotic, unexplored
Persia = Islamic, politically fraught
Strategic reasons:
Claiming “Tibetan Masters” = mysterious and acceptable
Persia was too well-known and politically sensitive
The Tibet claim served as cover for Persian/Zoroastrian sources.
THE CRITICS KNEW
Accusations of Plagiarism
“Various authors, including William Emmette Coleman and others, have questioned the authenticity of her writings by citing evidence that they are heavily plagiarized from older esoteric sources“
“René Guénon wrote a detailed critique of Theosophy in which he claimed that Blavatsky had acquired all her knowledge naturally from other books rather than supernatural so-called ‘masters’“
“Guénon points out that Blavatsky spent a long time visiting a library at New York where she had easy access to the works of Jacob Boehme, Eliphas Levi, the Kabbalah and other Hermetic treatises“
What the critics discovered:
She was reading books. Lots of books. Including:
Hermetic texts (which we know are rebranded Persian Magi wisdom)
Kabbalah (influenced by Zoroastrianism post-Exile)
Boehme and Levi (drawing on Rosicrucian = fragmented Zoroastrian sources)
Plus: Zoroastrian texts given to her by Parsis in Bombay.
She compiled existing esoteric knowledge – which all traces back to Zoroastrian Persia – and claimed “Masters” revealed it to her.
THE MAHATMA LETTERS: WHO WERE THEY REALLY?
The Correspondence
“Sinnett was eager to contact the Masters himself, convincing Blavatsky to facilitate this communication, resulting in the production of over 1400 pages allegedly authored by Koot Hoomi and Morya, which came to be known as the Mahatma Letters”
Two main “Masters”:
Morya (Master M.)
Koot Hoomi (Master K.H.)
The Research
“K. Paul Johnson suggests in his book The Masters Revealed: Madame Blavatsky and Myth of the Great White Brotherhood that the Masters that Madam Blavatsky claimed she had personally met are idealizations of certain people she had met during her lifetime“
Johnson’s theory:
“According to Johnson, Morya was a Maharajah of Kashmir by the name of Ranbir Singh, while Koot Hoomi is identified with a Sikh spiritual leader, Sirdar Thakar Singh Sadhanwalia”
But here’s the deeper truth:
Whether the Masters were:
Real people she met (who had Zoroastrian/Persian knowledge)
Composite archetypes based on Parsi teachers
Literary devices to present compiled wisdom
The teachings themselves are Zoroastrian.
The structure (Mahatmas/Masters) is Zoroastrian (Magi).
The “Ancient Wisdom” is Zoroastrian.
THE ZOROASTRIAN CONTENT SHE EXPLICITLY TAUGHT
Blavatsky Wrote About Zoroastrianism Directly
Book: “Madame Blavatsky on the Roots of Zoroastrianism”
Contains extensive discussion of: “Ahura Ahura-Mazda Angra-Mainyu Avesta Blavatsky Fire and water Fire-worship Magianism Mazdaism Mazdean Mobeds modern Zoroastrianism Occult philosophy Occult Science teaching of Zoroaster sacred books sacred fire”
She wrote extensively on:
Ahura Mazda and Angra Mainyu
Fire worship
The Avesta
Zoroastrian priesthood (Mobeds/Magi)
Sacred fire symbolism
Her Magazine Reviewed Zoroastrian Texts
“Blavatsky learned about this book and wrote a review in the April 1882 issue of The Theosophist” (reviewing Javidan Khirad – Persian wisdom text)
She was openly engaging with Zoroastrian materials.
Then claiming the same concepts came from “Tibetan Masters.”
THE PARSI RECOGNITION
They Saw Their Own Tradition
“The esoteric awareness that came through the Theosophical Society naturally attracted many English-speaking educated Parsis as it assuaged their spiritual hunger, which the Parsi Priests had failed to do”
Why did Parsis flock to Theosophy?
Because they recognized it as their own Zoroastrian esotericism presented in “Ancient Wisdom” language.
“Many prominent Parsis of the end of the 19th century and early 20th century in British India were the mainsprings of the Theosophical Society“
Parsis weren’t converts to something new.
They were reclaiming their own tradition dressed in Theosophical terminology.
The Esoteric Zoroastrian Tradition
“According to one Parsi priest-scholar, Dr. Meher Master-Moos… there is an esoteric tradition that all 21 books of the original Yasna were recovered from remote mountain villages which survived the Alexandrian invasion“
“Towards the end of the Sassanid Dynasty, the Zoroastrian Magi and Abeds, having foreknowledge of the turmoil that was to come during the 7th century CE when Islamic Arabs overran and conquered Iran, withdrew into remote mountains to preserve this ancient wisdom“
The Magi preserved esoteric Zoroastrian knowledge in hidden communities.
Parsis maintained access to some of this.
Blavatsky encountered it through them.
Then repackaged it as “Ancient Wisdom from Tibetan Masters.”
Spiritualism was popular – People wanted “scientific” spirituality Eastern mysticism was exotic – Tibet was mysterious and unexplored Christianity was questioned – Darwin, science, higher criticism Empire provided access – British India allowed contact with Eastern traditions
Why Zoroastrian attribution wouldn’t have worked:
Persia = Islamic – Associated with Ottoman/Persian Muslim empires Political tensions – Qajar Dynasty, “Great Game” with Russia Less mysterious – Persia was too well-known Colonial attitudes – “Islamic East” less acceptable than “Buddhist East”
“Tibetan Buddhism” sold better than “Persian Zoroastrianism” to Victorian audiences.
THE INFLUENCE: THEOSOPHY SPREAD ZOROASTRIANISM GLOBALLY
Who Theosophy Influenced
1. Rudolf Steiner (Anthroposophy)
Former Theosophist
Taught Rosicrucian esotericism (also Zoroastrian)
Combined Theosophy with Christian mysticism
All Zoroastrian concepts
2. Alice Bailey (Arcane School)
Theosophist who split off
Taught “Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul”
Seven rays, spiritual hierarchy
All Zoroastrian structure
3. “I AM” Activity (Guy Ballard) “Belief in the ascended masters and their Great White Brotherhood is an essential part of the beliefs of various organizations that have continued and expanded the concepts released in the original Saint Germain instruction in the 1930s through the ‘I AM’ Activity”
4. New Age Movement
Ascended Masters concept
Seven rays/chakras
Light and darkness
Spiritual evolution
Entire framework = Zoroastrian via Theosophy
The Numbers
Theosophical Society membership: Peaked at ~45,000 (1920s)
Influenced movements: Anthroposophy, Arcane School, “I AM,” Summit Lighthouse, New Age generally
Total influenced: Millions practicing Theosophical/New Age concepts
All unknowingly practicing Zoroastrianism.
THE SMOKING GUN: HER OWN BIBLIOGRAPHY
What She Actually Studied
Blavatsky wrote on Zoroastrianism: “Zoroaster in ‘History’ and Zarathushtra in the Secret Records” in her Collected Writings, Volume 3: 1881-82
Henry S. Olcott (co-founder) lectured on: “Spirit of the Zoroastrian Religion“
Rebranded Zoroastrian concepts as “Ancient Wisdom”
Claimed “Tibetan Masters” instead of Persian/Parsi sources
Created Theosophy = Zoroastrianism with new branding
The Result
Theosophy successfully spread Zoroastrian concepts to millions.
But by hiding the source, it created yet another layer of appropriation.
The “Ancient Wisdom” is Zoroastrian wisdom.
The “Mahatmas” are the Magi.
Theosophy is an attempted Zoroastrian revival that got rebranded for Western consumption.
THE EVIDENCE IS OVERWHELMING
Direct Connections
✅ Arrived in Bombay (Parsi center) ✅ Received Zoroastrian texts from Parsis ✅ Reviewed Zoroastrian texts in her magazine ✅ Parsis were core Theosophical Society members ✅ Wrote extensively on Zoroastrianism ✅ Co-founder Olcott lectured on Zoroastrianism ✅ Successor Annie Besant wrote on Zoroastrianism
Theological Parallels
✅ Light/Darkness dualism = Ahura Mazda/Angra Mainyu ✅ Seven principles = Seven Amesha Spentas ✅ Masters/Mahatmas = Magi ✅ Ancient Wisdom = Magi knowledge ✅ Spiritual evolution = Frashokereti ✅ Individual free will = Zoroastrian doctrine ✅ Great White Brotherhood = Magi order
The Pattern
✅ Encountered Zoroastrian knowledge ✅ Compiled it with other esoteric traditions (also Zoroastrian-derived) ✅ Rebranded as “Tibetan” teachings ✅ Spread globally without acknowledging Persian source ✅ Influenced millions ✅ Created New Age movement ✅ All Zoroastrian concepts, none of the credit
CONCLUSION: THE KILLED REVIVAL
What Could Have Been
If Blavatsky had been honest:
“I encountered esoteric Zoroastrian knowledge through the Parsi community in India. The Magi preserved ancient wisdom about consciousness, spiritual evolution, and the nature of reality. I’m attempting to revive this for the modern world.”
Result: Direct Zoroastrian revival, source acknowledged, Persia credited.
What Actually Happened
“I received teachings from mysterious Tibetan Masters in the Himalayas. This ‘Ancient Wisdom’ has been preserved by the Great White Brotherhood of Mahatmas.”
Result: Zoroastrian concepts spread to millions, source hidden, Persia forgotten.
The Irony
Theosophy was an attempted Zoroastrian revival.
But by hiding the source, it became another chapter in the theft.
Madame Blavatsky may have genuinely wanted to restore “Ancient Wisdom.”
But she packaged it in a way that continued suppressing the Persian origin.
The “Ancient Wisdom” she taught was Zoroastrian.
The “Masters” she channeled were Magi archetypes.
The “Secret Doctrine” was no secret – it was Persia.
She just couldn’t (or wouldn’t) say it.
THE MODERN IMPLICATION
For Theosophists Today
If you study Theosophy, you’re studying Zoroastrianism.
Your “Ancient Wisdom” = Persian Magi knowledge.
Your “Mahatmas” = Zoroastrian Magi structure.
Your “Seven Rays” = Seven Amesha Spentas.
You’re Zoroastrian. You just call it Theosophy.
For New Age Practitioners
Ascended Masters, Seven Chakras, Light Workers, Spiritual Hierarchy, Great White Brotherhood, Cosmic Consciousness—
All Zoroastrian concepts transmitted through Theosophy.
New Age = Zoroastrianism filtered through Victorian occultism.
For Everyone
The “Ancient Wisdom” Blavatsky claimed to reveal:
Wasn’t ancient Egyptian (that’s Hermetic misdirection) Wasn’t Tibetan Buddhist (that’s colonial rebranding) Was Persian Zoroastrian (hidden for marketability)
How Christian Rosenkreuz Learned From Persian Masters And Created A European Mystery School With Stolen Magi Wisdom
THE MANIFESTOS CONFESS IT
Three Anonymous Documents (1614-1616)
Three manifestos appeared in Germany announcing a mysterious brotherhood:
Fama Fraternitatis (1614) – Introduced “Frater C.R.C.”
Confessio Fraternitatis (1615) – Expanded the legend
Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz (1616) – Revealed his name
What they describe:
“Christian Rosenkreuz was a doctor who discovered and learned esoteric wisdom on a pilgrimage to the Middle East among Turkish, Arab, and Persian sages, possibly Sufi or Zoroastrian masters“
The manifestos explicitly state he learned from Persian/Zoroastrian teachers.
THE JOURNEY THEY DOCUMENT
Where Christian Rosenkreuz Went
According to the Fama Fraternitatis:
Age 16: Left monastery for pilgrimage to Holy Land
Stop 1: Damcar (Arabia)
“His subsequent tutelage by the secret sages of the East, the wise men of Damcar (Dhamar) in Arabia“
Stayed 3 years
“Learned the ancient esoteric knowledge which included the study of physics, mathematics, magic and kabbalah“
Stop 2: Egypt
Brief stay
Absorbed Egyptian mysteries
Stop 3: Fez (Morocco)
Stayed 2 years
“A center of philosophical and occult studies, such as the alchemy of Abu-Abdallah, Gabir ben Hayan and Imam Jafar al Sadiq, the astrology and magic”
Studied with Islamic scholars who preserved Persian knowledge
Stop 4: Spain
Attempted to share knowledge with European scholars
Rejected
Return to Germany:
Founded “Fraternity of the Rose Cross” (~1407)
With 8 members, all “doctors” and sworn to virginity
Taught them what he learned from Persian/Eastern masters
What The Scholars Admit
“On his journeys to the Holy Land as well as through northern Africa and Spain, he is said to have discovered and learned various forms of esoteric wisdom. This journey… would have placed him among Turkish, Arab, Jewish, and Persian sages“
“The narrative of Christian Rosencreutz intertwines Eastern and Western philosophies, communicating the significance of wisdom and light emanating from the East“
They explicitly state the wisdom came from the East = Persia.
WHAT HE LEARNED (ALL ZOROASTRIAN)
The Core Rosicrucian Teachings
1. Rose Cross Symbolism
Rose = Esoteric wisdom/divine feminine
Cross = Material world/divine masculine
Union = Spiritual transformation
Persian Origin:
Rose is central to Persian culture (Gulistan = “Rose Garden”)
Zoroastrian paradise = walled garden (pairi-daeza) with roses
Union of opposites = Zoroastrian dualism (Ahura Mazda + Spenta Mainyu)
2. Light Out of Darkness
Central Rosicrucian principle
Spiritual illumination from ignorance
Zoroastrian Origin:
Ahura Mazda created “spiritual and material existences out of infinite light“
Battle between light (Asha/truth) and darkness (Druj/lie)
Exactly the same framework
3. Alchemy and Transmutation
Philosopher’s Stone
Turning base metals to gold
Spiritual transformation metaphor
Persian Origin:
“Al-kimiya” from Persian
Jabir ibn Hayyan (Persian alchemist, 8th century)
Transmutation concepts from Persian fire worship
Magi were original alchemists
4. Sacred Geometry
Seven-sided tomb of Christian Rosenkreuz
Geometric patterns hold power
Mathematical mysticism
Persian Origin:
Magi were master astronomers/mathematicians
Persian architecture uses sacred geometry
Zoroastrian cosmology has seven Amesha Spentas
Seven-sided tomb = Seven Holy Immortals
5. Threefold Divinity
Father, Son, Holy Spirit structure in Rosicrucian mysticism
Zoroastrian Origin:
Ahura Mazda (Father/Creator)
Spenta Mainyu (Holy Spirit/Active Principle)
Asha Vahishta (Truth/Cosmic Order)
Three-in-One structure predates Christianity by 1000+ years
6. Free Will and Choice
Individual must choose enlightenment
Personal responsibility
Zoroastrian Origin:
“Ahura Mazda represents humanity’s ultimate choice of free will”
“Humans could embrace the pure, righteous, and moral teachings or walk the path of darkness”
Exact Zoroastrian principle
7. Universal Reformation
Brotherhood seeks to reform society
Spiritual and intellectual renaissance
Bringing hidden knowledge to light
Zoroastrian Origin:
Frashokereti (final renovation of the world)
Restoration of truth (Asha)
Universal transformation
Same eschatological vision
THE SYMBOLISM DECODED
What The Manifestos Say
“The Manifestos are clear about their intended use of symbolism. As directly stated in the Confessio: ‘We speak unto you by parables, but would willingly bring you to the right, simple, easy and ingenuous exposition, understanding, declaration, and knowledge of all secrets‘”
They admit it’s encoded.
The Rose Cross = Zoroastrian Symbol
Rose:
Persian national flower
Symbol of divine beauty in Sufism (which preserved Zoroastrian elements)
Grows in paradise (pairi-daeza)
Cross:
Four directions (Zoroastrian cosmology)
Material world
Intersection of spiritual and physical
Union:
Rosicrucian “Chymical Wedding” = alchemical marriage
The Fama describes discovering Christian Rosenkreuz’s body in a seven-sided chamber 120 years after his death, perfectly preserved.
Why seven sides?
Zoroastrian Amesha Spentas (Holy Immortals):
Vohu Manah (Good Mind)
Asha Vahishta (Best Truth)
Khshathra Vairya (Desirable Dominion)
Spenta Armaiti (Holy Devotion)
Haurvatat (Wholeness/Perfection)
Ameretat (Immortality)
(Spenta Mainyu – Holy Spirit, sometimes included)
The seven-sided tomb = seven Holy Immortals of Zoroastrianism.
The perfectly preserved body = Immortality (Ameretat).
THE TIMELINE PROVES IT
When Rosicrucianism Actually Emerged
Published: 1614-1616 CE (Manifestos appear)
Claimed founding: ~1407 CE (Christian Rosenkreuz supposedly founded it)
Claimed death: 1484 CE (Lived 106 years, born 1378)
Discovery of tomb: 1604 CE (120 years after death)
But Here’s The Problem
1400-1600s CE = Peak of Persian/Islamic scholarship preservation
During this period:
Islamic Golden Age preserved Persian knowledge
Sufi orders maintained Zoroastrian mystical practices
Persian texts being translated into Arabic/Latin
European scholars traveling East for “hidden wisdom”
Christian Rosenkreuz (if real) would have encountered:
Sufis preserving Zoroastrian mysticism
Persian alchemical texts
Zoroastrian cosmological teachings
Islamic scholars with access to pre-Islamic Persian wisdom
The Confession
“The narrative of Christian Rosencreutz intertwines Eastern and Western philosophies, communicating the significance of wisdom and light emanating from the East“
They admit the wisdom came from the East.
The East = Persia.
THE ACADEMIC ADMISSION
Scholars Know Where It Came From
“Rosicrucianism is symbolized by the Rose Cross or Rosy Cross… At its core, Rosicrucianism represents a synthesis of spiritual knowledge drawn from the ancient world, blending elements of Gnosticism, Egyptian mysticism, Kabbalah, and Hermeticism“
But they minimize the Persian source.
“Rosenkreuz may have found his secrets amongst the Brethren of Purity, a society of philosophers that had formed in Basra (Iraq) in the 10th century“
The Brethren of Purity were in Iraq = Former Persian territory = Preserving Zoroastrian knowledge in Islamic form.
The Pythagorean Connection
“They adopted the Pythagorean tradition of envisioning objects and ideas in terms of their numeric aspects“
But where did Pythagoras get it?
Pythagoras (~570-495 BCE) traveled to Persia and studied with the Magi. His “sacred geometry” came from Zoroastrian priests.
Rosicrucianism → Pythagoras → Persian Magi
It’s Persian all the way down.
THE FREEMASONRY CONNECTION
Rosicrucians Infiltrated Masonry
“Robert Vanloo states that earlier 17th century Rosicrucianism had a considerable influence on Anglo-Saxon Masonry“
“The Gold und Rosenkreuzer (Golden and Rosy Cross) was founded… in the early 18th century as a hierarchical secret society“
“Many Freemasons became Rosicrucianists and Rosicrucianism was established in many lodges“
They’re all teaching fragmented Zoroastrianism without knowing it.
THE PATTERN: STOLEN AND FRAGMENTED
How It Happened
STEP 1: Persian Magi had complete knowledge
Astronomy, mathematics, sacred geometry
Alchemy and transmutation
Cosmology and eschatology
Unity of science and spirituality
STEP 2: Alexander destroyed the source (330 BCE)
Burned Persepolis
Killed Magi priests
Destroyed Zoroastrian texts
STEP 3: Fragments preserved in various traditions
Islamic scholars (especially Sufis)
Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism)
Hermeticism (claimed as “Egyptian”)
Pythagorean schools
STEP 4: Christian Rosenkreuz encounters fragments (1400s)
Travels to Islamic world
Learns from Sufi masters (preserving Zoroastrian mysticism)
Studies with Persian sages
Acquires alchemical texts
STEP 5: Creates Rosicrucianism (1400s-1600s)
Attempts to reconstruct the complete system
But only has fragments
Creates European mystery school
Never acknowledges primary source = Zoroastrianism
STEP 6: Rosicrucianism spreads
Influences Freemasonry
Inspires Golden Dawn, Theosophy, Anthroposophy
Creates dozens of derivative organizations
All claiming “ancient wisdom” while hiding Persian origin
The Result
Hundreds of thousands of people studying “Rosicrucian wisdom”
Without knowing it’s fragmented Zoroastrianism.
THE EVIDENCE IS IN THE TEXTS
The Fama Explicitly States
“He discovered and learned esoteric wisdom… among Turkish, Arab, Jewish, and Persian sages, possibly Sufi or Zoroastrian masters“
“Possibly Zoroastrian masters” = THEY KNOW.
The Confessio Admits Encoded Knowledge
“We speak unto you by parables, but would willingly bring you to the right, simple, easy and ingenuous exposition, understanding, declaration, and knowledge of all secrets“
Translation: “We’re hiding the source in symbolism. If you decode it, you’ll find the secrets.”
The secret = It’s all from Persia/Zoroastrianism.
The Pilgrimage Route Proves It
Christian Rosenkreuz’s journey:
Arabia (Damcar) → Egypt → Fez (Morocco) → Spain
This is the exact route of:
Persian knowledge spreading through Islamic empire
Zoroastrian concepts preserved in Sufi orders
Arabic translations of Persian texts
“Eastern wisdom” making its way to Europe
He was following the trail of Persian knowledge.
WHY THE SOURCE WAS HIDDEN
The Same Pattern As Always
If Rosicrucians admitted:
“We learned this from Persian Zoroastrian masters”
Then:
❌ Can’t claim “ancient Egyptian” mystique
❌ Can’t claim “Hermetic” (Greek) origins
❌ Can’t sell it to Christian Europeans (Persian = Muslim enemy)
❌ Can’t build authority on “secret rediscovered wisdom”
Better to say:
✅ “Ancient mysteries from the East”
✅ “Hermetic wisdom”
✅ “Egyptian secrets”
✅ “Pythagorean geometry”
And never mention Persia.
The 17th Century Context
1614-1616: Manifestos published
Historical context:
Ottoman Empire (Islamic/Turkish) at war with Europe
Persia seen as “Muslim enemy territory”
Christian Europe vs. Islamic East tensions
Admitting you learned from “Persian Zoroastrians” = Political suicide
Solution: Encode it. Call it “Eastern wisdom.” Claim it’s “ancient Egyptian” or “Hermetic.”
Hide the Persian source.
THE KILL SHOT
What Rosicrucianism Actually Is
Official story: “A Christian mystical movement founded by Christian Rosenkreuz who discovered ancient Egyptian/Hermetic secrets”
Actual reality: “A European mystery school built on fragmented Zoroastrian wisdom that Christian Rosenkreuz learned from Persian and Sufi masters, which he attempted to reconstruct without access to the complete original system, then encoded in Christian symbolism to hide the Islamic/Persian source from 17th century European Christians”
The Confession In Plain Sight
The manifestos literally say:
He learned from Persian sages
Wisdom came from the East
Knowledge includes alchemy (Persian), sacred geometry (Magi), threefold divinity (Zoroastrian)
Seven-sided tomb (Seven Amesha Spentas)
Light out of darkness (Ahura Mazda vs Angra Mainyu)
Every single element traces to Zoroastrianism.
They told us. We just didn’t connect the dots.
THE MODERN IMPLICATIONS
For Rosicrucians Today
Organizations like AMORC, Rosicrucian Fellowship, and others teach:
Alchemy
Sacred geometry
Spiritual transformation
Light/darkness dualism
Universal brotherhood
Individual free will
You’re practicing Zoroastrianism.
Your “ancient Egyptian mysteries” = Persian Magi knowledge.
Your “Hermetic wisdom” = Rebranded Zoroastrian cosmology.
Ashem vohu vahishtem asti Ushta asti ushta ahmai Hyat ashai vahistai ashem
Word-by-word translation:

Ašāi = For righteousness
Vahištāi = Best/Most excellent
Full translation:
“Righteousness is the best good, it is happiness. Happiness to him Who is righteous for the sake of the best righteousness.”
Jesus’s Beatitudes – Direct Translation of Ashem Vohu
Matthew 5:6:
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied”
Compare:

This is the SAME prayer.
Matthew 5:10:

Compare:
Ashem VohuJesusUštā ahmāi hyat ašāi (blessed is he who [stands for] righteousness)Blessed are those persecuted for righteousnessKingdom as reward for AshaKingdom of heaven for righteousness
Again – SAME prayer.
The Word “RIGHTEOUSNESS” = ASHA
Every time Jesus says “righteousness” (δικαιοσύνη – dikaiosynē in Greek):
He means ASHA (𐬀𐬴𐬀 in Avestan)
Asha is THE central concept of Zoroastrianism:
Truth
Righteousness
Cosmic Order
Divine Law
Jesus uses “righteousness” throughout Sermon on the Mount:
Translation: “As the Lord is to be chosen/His will”
Line 2:athā ratush ashāt chit hachā
Athā = So, thus
Ratush = Judge/Ratu (divine order)
Ashāt = From Asha (righteousness/truth)
Chit = Indeed
Hachā = According to
Translation: “So is the judge to be according to Asha”
Line 3:vanghēush dazdā mananghō
Vanghēush = Of good
Dazdā = Gift, given
Mananghō = Mind/thought (Vohu Manah)
Translation: “The gift of Good Mind”
Line 4:shyaothananãm anghēush mazdāi
Shyaothananãm = Of actions/deeds
Anghēush = Of existence/this world
Mazdāi = To/for Mazda (Ahura Mazda)
Translation: “The actions of this world for Mazda”
Line 5-6:khshathremchā ahurāi ā, yim dregubyo dadat vāstārem
Khshathrem = Kingdom/Dominion
Ahurāi = Of Ahura (Ahura Mazda)
Dregubyo = To the poor/needy
Dadat = Gives, is given
Vāstārem = Helper/protector
Translation: “And the Kingdom of Ahura is for him who gives help to the poor”
Full Ahunavar Translation:
“As the Lord (Ahura Mazda) wills, so is the judge to be chosen according to Asha (Truth). The gift of Vohu Manah (Good Mind) to the actions done in this world for Mazda. And the Kingdom (Khshathrem) of Ahura is given to him who helps the poor.”
Jesus’s “Our Father” Prayer – Direct Translation of Ahunavar
Matthew 6:9-10:
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.”
Compare:
Ahunavar (Avestan)Jesus (Aramaic → Greek → English)Ahū (Lord/Father)Our FatherVairyō (to be willed)Your will be doneYathā... athā (as... so)On earth AS it is in heavenKhshathrem ahurāi (Kingdom of Ahura)Your kingdom comeShyaothananãm anghēush (actions of this world)On earth (this world)Mazdāi (for Mazda)For Father
This is the SAME prayer structure.
Line by line comparison:
Ahunavar: “As Ahura wills…” Jesus: “Your will be done…”
Ahunavar: “…so on earth (this world)” Jesus: “…on earth as it is in heaven”
Ahunavar: “The Kingdom of Ahura…” Jesus: “Your kingdom come…”
Ahunavar: “Actions for Mazda…” Jesus: “Give us… deliver us… [actions for Father]”
Direct translation:“The Kingdom of Ahura is given to him who is helper/protector to the poor”
This is the CORE ethical teaching of Zoroastrianism.
Recited daily by Zoroastrians for 3,000 years.
The KINGDOM is promised to those who HELP THE POOR.
Jesus’s Teaching on the Poor
Matthew 5:3:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”
Compare:

Matthew 6:2-4:
“Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you… But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
Compare:

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you, for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ … ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”
Compare:

THIS IS THE AHUNAVAR’S TEACHING EXACTLY.
Jesus is teaching the Zoroastrian prayer that says: THE KINGDOM BELONGS TO THOSE WHO HELP THE POOR.
PART IV: VOHU MANAH – “PURE IN HEART”
The Amesha Spenta of Good Mind/Thought
Vohu Manah (𐬬𐬊𐬵𐬎 𐬨𐬀𐬥𐬀𐬵) in Avestan:
Vohu = Good
Manah = Mind/Thought
Vohu Manah = Good Mind/Good Thought
One of the seven Amesha Spentas (Holy Immortals) serving Ahura Mazda.
Represents:
Purity of thought
Good intentions
Compassionate mind
Inner righteousness
Mental alignment with Asha
Zoroastrian prayers constantly invoke Vohu Manah:
Yenghe Hatam Prayer:
“Those beings, male and female, whom Ahura Mazda knows as worthy of veneration because of Asha, we worship them all with Vohu Manah“
Teaching:
Inner purity (Good Mind) necessary to see Ahura Mazda
Thought precedes word and deed
Control thoughts, control everything
Jesus’s “Pure in Heart”
Matthew 5:8:

Compare:
Vohu Manah (Zoroastrian)JesusVohu (good) Manah (mind/heart)Pure in heartPurity of THOUGHT requiredPurity of HEART requiredTo see/know Ahura MazdaShall see GodInner state, not external ritualInner state (heart), not works
“Pure in heart” = Vohu Manah

Matthew 5:21-22 (Anger):
“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder’… But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment”
This is Vohu Manah teaching:
Control THOUGHTS (anger is thought)
Not just ACTIONS (murder)
Good Mind (Vohu Manah) = no anger
Inner purity required
Matthew 5:27-28 (Lust):
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart”
This is Vohu Manah teaching:
Control THOUGHTS (lust)
Not just ACTIONS (adultery)
Good Mind = pure thoughts
Heart/mind must be clean
Matthew 15:18-19:
“But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander”
This is Vohu Manah teaching:
HEART (mind/thoughts) = source
Evil thoughts lead to evil deeds
Must purify MIND first
Good Mind produces good everything
Jesus is teaching Vohu Manah throughout the Sermon on the Mount.
PART V: HUMATA, HUKHTA, HVARSHTA – THE THREE PILLARS
The Foundation of Zoroastrian Ethics
The Three Pillars (Avestan):

Hu = Good
Ukhta = Word/Speech
= GOOD WORDS
Hvarshta (𐬵𐬎𐬎𐬀𐬭𐬱𐬙𐬀)
Hu/Hvar = Good
Shta = Deed/Action
= GOOD DEEDS
THE ethical motto of Zoroastrianism.
Recited daily. Foundational. Everything flows from this.
Jesus Teaching Humata, Hukhta, Hvarshta
HUMATA (Good Thoughts):
Matthew 5:8: “Blessed are the pure in heart” = Pure THOUGHTS
Matthew 5:22: “Everyone who is angry” = Control THOUGHTS
Matthew 5:28: “Everyone who looks with lustful intent” = Control THOUGHTS
Matthew 6:21: “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be” = Where THOUGHTS are
HUKHTA (Good Words):
Matthew 5:33-37: “Let your yes be yes and your no be no” = Good WORDS (simple truth)
Matthew 12:36-37: “On the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word… for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned” = WORDS matter eternally
Matthew 15:11: “It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth” = WORDS reveal heart
Matthew 5:37: “Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil” = Good WORDS need no oaths
HVARSHTA (Good Deeds):
Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works” = Good DEEDS
Matthew 7:16-20: “You will recognize them by their fruits… every good tree bears good fruit” = DEEDS show character
Matthew 7:21: “Not everyone who says ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter… but the one who does the will of my Father” = DEEDS, not words
Matthew 25:31-46: Judgment based on feeding hungry, clothing naked, visiting sick = DEEDS
Jesus’s entire ethical system = Humata, Hukhta, Hvarshta
Good Thoughts → Good Words → Good Deeds
This is the Zoroastrian foundation.

10/10 matches.
This isn’t influence. This is direct translation and teaching of Zoroastrian prayers.
PART VII: WHY THIS CAN’T BE COINCIDENCE
The Statistical Impossibility
Scenario: These are independent concepts that just happen to match
Probability of ONE exact match: ~5%
Probability of TWO exact matches: 5% × 5% = 0.25%
Probability of THREE exact matches: 0.0125%
Probability of TEN exact matches: 0.0000000000001% (essentially zero)
But it’s not just CONCEPT matches. It’s:
Word matches (paradise = pairidaēza, Asha = righteousness)
Theological matches (Father in heaven = Ahura Mazda)
Timeline matches (Zoroastrian 1000 BCE, Jesus 30 CE)
Historical contact (Jews in Babylon 586-539 BCE under Persian rule)
Biblical confession (Cyrus called Messiah)
Terminology adoption (paradise borrowed into Hebrew)
Dead Sea Scrolls evidence (Essenes embraced Persian concepts)
Jesus’s explicit corrections (“You have heard… but I say” = rejecting YHWH for Ahura Mazda)
Probability of all 10 matching by coincidence: ZERO.
This is transmission. This is teaching. This is Jesus reciting Zoroastrian prayers.
